What was the last movie you've seen?

Harry Potter 8. One thing that always struck me about this, aside from some troubling subtext, is that Voldemort seems to have more supporters than Potter's team. If it was an election he'd win by a landslide.

Voldemort used dark magic to control people, either directly or with fear of being on the receiving end of dark magic.

In fact, most of his supporters snapped out of it in the end.

True but there are literally thousands of them compared to a few hundred. Voldemort should have run for parliament, made it legit.

Another baffling aspect of the film: why are parents sending their kids to a school run by magical fascists who openly abuse their pupils? Homeschooling seems like a valid option here.

Can't get a good job with the Ministry if your parents taught you. And Hogwarts has a long history of very proficient Defense against the Dark Arts professors.

Well that leads me to another question: aside from Hogwarts and the two foreign schools who compete in the Tri-Wizard tournament, are there other Magic schools? And are there any magic schools for under 11's? I'd reckon the Ministry couldn't afford to be too picky if there wasn't.

Anyway, somewhat bizarrely my girlfriend and I watched Harry Potter 5 before she went off to work. She is on a HP binge but it's still weird to watch them out of order.

I don't mind this one so much even if like most Potter movies it drags in the middle. I also raised my hand to ask questions far fewer times than during episode 8, so my girlfriend was slightly less angry with me by the end. Five points to Griffindor.

I believe each country has at least one. I'm not sure if larger countries (Russia, China, USA) have multiple schools. And with American schools, is there one per state? What about Texas and California, which are larger, or Alaska and Hawaii? And what about in major metropolitan areas like Seattle, New York City and Los Angeles?

I think NYC would have a school that serves the five boroughs, and possibly Connecticut, New Jersey and other neighboring areas. And would possibly be deep underground, a la the British Ministry of Magic (each country has their own government, like the Magical Congress of the United States of America, whose president today would be Samuel G. Quahog), or resemble a decayed neighborhood (taking a page out of Dr. Strange's playbook).

The books mentioned at least one American wizarding school in passing (The Salem Witches Institute).

Oh, and the answer is Harry Potter Wiki.
