Hi, my name's Luigi(for realz) I'm 15, and I live in sweet ol' California
My interests are old video games, old cameras(LOVE OLD CAMERAS), old radios, old electronics, and basically any tech from yesteryear. Antiques have been my passion since I was 8 and got 1902 Kodak Brownie camera. I decided to join after constantly stalking the "Video Game Finds of the Day" thread.
The consoles I own so far are an NES, Sega Genesis Model 1 and Model 2, Sega CD, Sega Dreamcast, Phat PS1, Slim PS1, SLim PS2, Slim PS3, Entex Tele-pong, XBOX 360 Slim, DS Lite, Gameboy Original, Gameboy Color, 3DS, Phat PSP, Gamegear, Nintendo 64, Wii, Famicom, and a Sega Master System
I'm 24, been playing video games starting with Star Goose on the Mom's Goldstar 8088 in 1990. Although I get frustrated and yell swear words a whole lot during gaming endeavors sometimes, I have always had a passion for trying to beat hard games. One of my favorite feats was beating Contra 4 on Hard. I grew up in a time where one couldn't go online to figure out how to get cheat codes or strategies for our NES games; it was a whole different world back then. Being a game-badass was about beating the hardest games, not about owning the most violent or adult-oriented games (although I like some of those, too). I began collecting games officially in early 2001. These days, I am focusing more on my job and other hobbies, and thus collect games no more. However, I do still enjoy playing every now and then! I used to have about 14 systems hooked up at any given time, but nowadays it's just the PS3, 360 and Sega Saturn hooked up to my TV. My favorite systems to collect for are/were/might again be the SMS and SG-1000. My favorite type of games are action side-scrollers.
I hold a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from a University on the east coast, and would like to get some kind of Engineering degree in the future, preferably from a University on the West Coast. For now, I'm a salesman by trade, and I like to ride expensive bikes, do tricks, goof off, pay for my car and student loans, learn mad skills, and party.
ExedExes is the name, and old school gaming is my "game". Ha!
As the name might suggest, I am a fan of the rather obscure and simplistic but challenging 1985 Capcom shoot em up of the same name. It has appeared on some of Capcom's collections and the Ultracade arcade unit, but most people would write it off as an early effort in the vein of Vulgus, 1942, and other early Capcom titles.
My specialties are
-- arcade games (especially the history/hardware sides) -- Dreamcast (actively collecting rarer games) -- shmups (any type, the older the better, and I embrace the modern efforts too)
I will hopefully be more active by participating in Together Retro (hopefully) the start of the new year with the first game Golden Axe Adventure. If I could secure a source of playing Super Monkey Ball I'd be there, but there weren't many other ways to play that.
Anyways, been a long time visitor here, love the site, and can't wait to share the memories through Together Retro in 2012! Nice lineup too!
