I'm a bartender I work 4 days a week and I work the closing shift where I work so I have a ton of time to kill during the afternoon. I'm a hardcore collector only time I sell something is if I already have it i sell all my stuff on amazon, Im not into the selling or trading on fourms because of some bad past experinces. But I live in la which might have the largest collection of pawn shops and thrift stores in the world not to mention craigs list. That perty much it. People that live in small towns don't have those luxuries.

In my case I wouldn't call Houston small. Granted I'm never up early for garage sales and don't check pawn shops as often as I could, you do post some amazing find probably 5 days a week. Surely you would have drained your area dry by now.

Well there is this one thrift store it's where I got this stuff, I'm friends with the manager she is this super nice and sweet lady and whenever they get game stuff she calls me up. So all that nintendo stuff never hit the floor. I actualy never go to garage sells. It's all Craigs list, thrift stores and pawn shops and once in a while flea markets. Pomona has a nice flea market.

EDIT: Cool thing about working at a bar, some stuff I've got I got for free I just gave a dude a bunch of drinks for his super nintendo and a bunch of games one time.

Flea markets where I was at school were great. But I was mostly into PC gaming at the time. I did pick up plenty of other cool stuff though. Unfortunately the flea markets here aren't so hot. I've gotten some amazing deals form Craigslist that I'll never top, you just have them many times a week. I know what you mean about networking with people though. My CDX in a plastic foam filled case was a freebie from a customer when I worked at a store. I helped him with some special orders and would generally hold things a little longer for him. But he was a good customer that always bought everything he held as well as being a nice guy, so we were all extra nice to him anyway.

If you want to see what i mean go on the LA craigs list and check it out it's like there are mass deals on there 24/7. Plus I'm sure if you have been to LA you know how many pawn shops there are and Thrift Stores.

The times I've been in LA and around it I didn't really get to wander. I was with other people that knew where we were going and there was usually a plan in place already. As much as I love Soundwaves here, I wish it was as big and awesome as Amoeba (I know, that's near Hollywood). As for stuff in LA we were always heading over to hit food and the bookstores in the Little Tokyo area near the Onizuka statue.

Working at a game store means I don't usually need things like CL, but very good find on your part, enjoy those games!!!

I found 2 Sega Genesis model 2's at Salvation Army, for $5 each. Bought them both, they didn't come with the power or picture cords though. I have that sort of thing lying around my house, however, so it's not a problem.
I also found Civilization 1, complete in box, 3 1/4 inch floppy disk version. It also came with some guy named Rick's savegame disk, all of the savegames were created in 1993.
