Lol thought that looked familiar.

That is too funny. I actually found complete, "black label" copies of Chrono Cross, FF7, and Xenogears for $5 each last week. (Also, no taxes! I paid even $15 for all three games!) Moreover, I actually passed on a "black label" copy of FF8 when I acquired the other games because I did not think it would be worth my time to flip it.

Ok, so here's what I kept from the big pile of stuff. I kept about the same dollar amount and number of items as Jmustang.

Saturn rental suitcase.
Image

White Japanese Saturn.
Image

Neo Geo CDZ.
Image

Beat up Galahad and a minty complete TMNT Hyperstone Heist for GEN. Rival Turf which is part of the Rushing Beat series and joins my copy of Brawl Brothers for SNES. Sonic Blastman II for SNES. A GBA headphone adapter cable. 2 bootleg multicarts, one of which has a ton of Bomberman games on it.
Image

Titan Quest is missing the disc for the main game, but I have that, so kept it just for the expansion disc. Trine was sort of on my radar anyway.
Image

The Bards Tale. Berserk Millennium Falcon (J), Champions of Norrath, Demon Stone, Shining Force Exa, The Shooting - Double Shienryu (J), Soul Reaver 2, and Space Channel 5 SE.
Image

Mutation Nation, Samurai Spirits (Shodown 2), Sonic Wings 2, Sonic Wings 3, and Twinkle Star Sprites for NGCD.
Image

Crypt Killer and a PS2 memory card. I kept the cheesy PS1 memory card because I like the holder that fits 4 cards in a CD case.
Image

Saturn controller extension.
Image

Choujikuu Yousai Macross Ai Oboeteimasuka, Cyberbots Fullmetal Madness, Elevator Action2 -Returns-, The House of the Dead, Skull Fang, Sonic Wings Special, Steamgear Mash, Virtua Cop 2, and Waku Waku 7 for J Saturn.
Image

Outtrigger, Space Channel 5, a clear green VMU, and a boot disc for DC.

I wondered which one of you kept Sonic Blast Man II! If you ever want to sell it...just saying!

That said, nice haul my friend.

Good stuff, Hobie. Also, Trine rules. One of my favorite PC games of recent times.

I knew of them, but had generally ignored them in the day. When I popped it in for testing... I decided to keep it. I gotta get the first one now too.

2600 Finds

Post by CRTGAMER »

prfsnl_gmr wrote:I grabbed 37 Atari 2600 games off of Craigslist today for $60, which includes: Adventure, Berserk, Football, Gopher, Breakout, Submarine Commander, Dig Dug, Galaxian, Tennis, Asteroids, Maze, Golf, Sky Jinks, Outer Space, Chopper Command, Baseball, Ice Hockey, Fast Food, Fishing Derby, Combat, Space Combat, Midnight Magic, Missile Command, Omega Race, Sword Quest: Earthworld, Pac Man, Barnstorming, Strategy X, Phoenix, Super Breakout, Buck Rogers, Defender, Home Run, Basketball, Star Raiders, and Tank Plus.

All of the games are in great shape, and there are several semi-rare titles (Strategy X, Submarine Commander), some Sears picture labels (Maze, Ouiter Space, Space Combat), and some popular titles (Adventure, Dig Dug, Galaxian, Golf, etc.)

I will be keeping about 1/2 of the lot and selling the rest to offset the cost. Since I acquired the entire lot for a little under the total market price of the titles I am keeping, however, getting even $1 for all of the remaining games will mean that I got a good deal.

Nice Finds! I'm starting to catch up on 2600 titles as well. Midnight Magic has an undocumented mode that even is on the picture of the label.

Six Atari 2600 Game Carts -$25.00
Bought all these from the Swap Meet on the same day. One table was selling three for ten bucks and another stall has a huge plastic storage bin with games at five bucks each. I literally had to pile the carts on the ground as I was digging thru that box. I think I came out with some good ones including three games that I have played in the past. Mash I owned ages ago on the 2600, Midnight Magic and Turmoil I have on the Commodore 8 bit computers.

2600 Eggo Mania - Atari Age Rarity 4
Bought mainly due to the beveled case, stands out compared to regular 2600 carts. Uses game paddles and plays similar to Kaboom. Catch eggs dropped by chicken. I hate it when I miss, having to wait while the chicken does the laugh at you dance. At least in later levels I can shoot the eggs back at that damn bird. Now how many would love to do this to the dog on NES Duck Hunt?

2600 M*A*S*H - Atari Age Rarity 3
Fly helicopters to pick up wounded soldiers while flying around trees and dodging the jeep missile launcher. Bonus rounds of removing fragments from a wounded soldier similar to the Operation Board game.

2600 Midnight Magic - Atari Age Rarity 3
The BEST 2600 Pinball game! Really, the physics of the ball to the tee just like a real table. Though the graphics are limited on the 2600, this is done well. Four flippers, includes bumpers and even a spinner in the center with a nice affect when the ball runs thru it. Note the label shows a picture of a set of vintage PC game paddles using each button as a Flipper control. I tried this out, but could not launch the ball. The game works with a joystick, but with a Y cable, I found a very nice way to play. :D

GAME PADDLE + JOYSTICK + Y CABLE
Game Paddle Buttons - Left and Right Flippers
Joystick Down - Pull back ball plunger
Joystick Button - Launch ball
Joystick Up - All Flippers
Joystick Left - Left Flippers
Joystick Right - Right Flippers

Image

The Joystick is not as intuitive for controlling the Flippers. Pressing the separate buttons of the game paddles offers a more real control in smacking the Flippers. This brings another point, the Paddle Buttons can work for left and right control of Atari 2600 Joystick driving games! Nice to discover something new on a decades old system!

2600 Pressure Cooker - Atari Age Rarity 4
Came out way before Cooking Mama. In a twist of the arcade Burger Time, collect the ingredients to make hamburgers on a conveyer belt.

2600 Solaris Atari Age Rarity 2
I love Star Raiders on the 5200, this is a good rendition for the 2600. A little disappointed that it is a behind the ship view instead of looking from inside. Second Joystick allows better control in looking thru the galaxy chart.

2600 Turmoil Atari Age Rarity 3
Oh yeah, memories of the Vic20 version are back! Love the title screen, the rolling colors famous in older systems.

ImageImage

A lot of posts describe this game as sideways Tempest, but it is more! Once in a while a bonus appears requiring going down the track and grabbing before it shoots or the enemy ship gets you from the opposite side. Really a superb game that needs either a very responsive Joystick or Gamepad. Toss the original 2600 Joystick aside, use either a Genesais Pad or the EPYX Joystick that has solid switches inside.

The perfect Turmoil control. Same Joystick I use on the Vic20, works great in the 2600.

Image

Okay some of these are far from mint but at least the whole labels though sun damaged are intact. After all, these games are over 30 years old! Touched up the labels with colored felt markers. Turmoil and Mash came out really well, couldn't quite color match Midnight Magic. Ah well, better then the plain white tear showing.

Odd find among the 75% off TV sale at Goodwill, sadly no Sony's, but this caught my eye:

This site http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/178041-nintendo-joystick-for-pc/ gave me some info, what a weird product. There is also an archived article at IGN from 1997! that gives a bit more detail, so it is an official Nintendo product. I'd link to that but the addy is ridiculously long, just Google if your interested enough. Maybe if a 15 pin to N64 adapter exists you can use it on an N64....

Interesting, I have seen 35mm cameras but never a PC controller with a N64 tag. I don't think there is a PC Gamestick to N64 adapter. However due to the quality of your stick, maybe worth getting a Game Port to USB adapter!

The NJS-3D1 is the first of many Nintendo licensed products, and offers a solid array of the buttons, triggers and switches that appear on the upper crust of PC flight joysticks. CH Flight Stick Pro and Thrustmaster compatible, the NJS-3D1 includes a four-way hat switch, throttle, four firing buttons on the handle, turbo functions, and four turbo buttons on the base. The four buttons on the base can also be used in a gamepad mode, modifiable for use as A, B, C, and D buttons.

Found Glimmerati for N-Gage at the Goodwill. After doing some research, I thought I'd at least *look* for an N-Gage on eBay. Found one for $25 and snatched it.

Might start collecting for it. Seems like a cool obscure system.

Bikeage, I have been looking for one of those for a while. They are fairly uncommon, borderline rare, but when they do sell its not typically a paycheck since they are serial based flight sticks and in the last 10 years pc flight sticks technology has jumped leaps and bounds. So if you ever decide to sell, keep me in mind.
