It's just so... random. Definitely more of a react and hope the battle goes your way. I'm having to learn to get throws into the mix, especially if I do a pop-up combo. I'm also learning that sometimes, even if it seems like an absolute scrum, fighting near your buddy can be useful for those team-up attacks. Mission 66 was giving me fits until I landed a bunch of lucky team-ups, as well as keeping my buddy alive to slip behind guys and throw 'em all over the place. And I still almost lost at the end when the last goon alive started beating me down, and my buddy just kinda sat there for a bit.
And yeah, I slipped into the options, and I'm on Normal.

You're doing good man, keep going! You're going to love getting mauled by swords soon.
I made it to mission 90 tonight. Only 10 more missions to go. I can't wait to see what the end of this game is going to be like.

Yes! TMNT III was fantastic! I played that game all summer long when I was a little boy. I loved that the first stage was in Florida because that’s where I lived at the time.Xeogred wrote:Honestly TMNT III is my favorite TMNT game. It's incredible and has such a cool scenario with the floating city. Used to run through it with my grandpa back in the day. Kind of weird it seems like a hidden gem with Turtles in Time taking up all the spotlight. Good to see TMNT III name dropped here.
I think I'll try to play the arcade versions of the original (II) and Turtles in Time this month.
At the end of the Florida stage, the Turtles surf... all the way back to New York.
As an adult, I can appreciate that TMNT III refined all the gameplay and enemy interaction from TMNT II: The Arcade Game. Really, TMNT III is an improvement in just about every aspect.
I’m with Sarge. Nothing beats the arcade original, but Hyperstone Heist is really cool. It’s like a cool remix of Turtles in Time that’s unafraid to do its own thing. The SNES version just tries to copy the arcade version, but it’s not quite right.Markies wrote:The SNES port is still amazing. I mean, Streets of Rage 2 is my favorite in the genre, but number two would probably be Turtles in Time.Sarge wrote:I know this is weird, but while I like Turtles in Time, I've never thought of it as absolutely amazing like some do. I don't know, it just feels a little different from the original arcade game, which is the one I prefer. I also think Hyperstone Heist is fantastic, and more should try out that game, too.
Throwing enemies at the screen is one of my favorite aspects in gaming.
SNES version is a Michael Jackson impersonator trying very hard to sing exactly like Michael, but never quite getting there. Hyperstone Heist is Alien Ant Farm doing a fun Rock-n-roll cover of smooth criminal with a driving electric bass. They know darn well they can’t sound better than Michael, so they take it in their own direction for fun.

Hyperstone Heist is also blisteringly fast. Everything feels a bit snappier to me. That dash move is awesome for kicking off the power slam, which never gets old.

Put 10 credits on M.A.M.E and made my way through Golden Axe before lunch today, it is a timeless classics by the letter.

Speaking of TMNT, it is a territory i'm yet to tread, what are the best of them (Arcade included)?
I own Hyperstone Heist but never got around to play it and remember vaguely playing as a child the Snes one.

Once you throw in the arcade games, I think the original TMNT is where it's at. All of the ones PresidentLeever listed are great, though.
Re: Together Retro: Beat-'Em-Ups
Thank you guys, i'm on a trip this weekend but i'm taking my notebook and my usb Saturn pad with me and TMNT it is then!
Re: Together Retro: Beat-'Em-Ups
Oh snap, I forgot about Golden Axe arcade too... I'll have to check that out.
I really wish Sega made an arcade exclusive Streets of Rage game. Would have been FIRE!

Re: Together Retro: Beat-'Em-Ups
My favorite is TMNT III on NES. Second to that is Turtles in Time SNES or arcade, but the original Turtles Arcade is very close. Hyper stone Heist is a distant third and Turtles II on NES (a rough port of the arcade game) comes in last.
I found out there’s a Cadillacs and Dinosaurs game on the Sega CD so I downloaded it to play on my modded Wii. I then found out it’s not a beat-‘em-up...

I've made it to mission 93 in Urban Reign. Only seven more missions to go. I'm sorry I dragged you into this Sarge.
