Re: Together Retro 2016 Nomination Thread OMG!
BTW...If our racing pick is between Daytona USA and Micro Machines. I vote for Daytona USA.
Re: Together Retro 2016 Nomination Thread OMG!
Another great puzzle game I've been wanting to play again is Kickle Cubicle

I beat this years ago and remember having a lot of fun. I don't own it, but it is easily emulated.
EDIT: And Noise, yes to Dr. Mario. I've actually never played it!

Re: Together Retro 2016 Nomination Thread OMG!
I'm glad to see the list shaping up well and getting solid.
As for the last 3 holdouts -
AOTD vs. FF - I can easily say AOTD because I've got no PS2/Xbox, and AOTD is easily attainable on GOG these days. I know AOTD is rough around the edges graphically, but it's a pioneer in survival horror.
Daytona vs. Micro Machines - Difficult to say. I'd be happy with either one. I love the Dreamcast port of Daytona, but when AJ mentioned Micro Machines, wow, what a great series. Consider the many ports available for it too. NES/GB/SNES/PC/GBA/PS2/SMS/Genesis/Game Gear. There's even 3 more games in the series, all with additional ports.
Harvest Moon - Honestly I've never played any of them, but this one that seems to be the focus, the GBA versions are less than $20 so if anything it's a cheap investment.
I also wanted to mention Raiden Legacy is also on mobile devices, so with a Bluetooth controller you'd be able to play it just as well as anyplace else. It's also free on the new Amazon Underground appstore, available for 3rd generation and higher Kindle tablets and Android devices. The developer DotEmu also has a mobile version of R-Type!

I feel like this would be up against Solomon's Key, right? And that game seems to have pretty unanimous backing.Lazer wrote:Another great puzzle game I've been wanting to play again is Kickle Cubicle

What? That's crazy, bro. You need to play that.EDIT: And Noise, yes to Dr. Mario. I've actually never played it!
I don't know if I've officially chimed in myself on those 3 sticking points, so...
a. I guess I'd pick Daytona, because I love it. I wouldn't be mad if MM won though.
b. I'd prefer Alone In The Dark. I just think it's an important game and I've never actually played it, so would love the excuse to finally do so.
c. There's a really, really good chance I'll sit out Harvest Moon month. I think it's an interesting pick, but I can't really see myself tracking down a copy unless it was super cheap.

doesn't help me. The PS3 is in the living room as a bluray/Netflix player. I have never played a video game in my living room. At this point pretty much every console I own is one you can consider I "don't have access" to. None of them are in my game room. So unless I can play a game on PC or Android (including disc-based media that I can emulate on PC), then I generally just don't play it.alienjesus wrote:It's like £4 on PSNnoiseredux wrote: c. Solomon's Key is getting a big head from running unopposed for so long.noiseredux wrote:I feel like this would be up against Solomon's Key, right? And that game seems to have pretty unanimous backing.Lazer wrote:Another great puzzle game I've been wanting to play again is Kickle Cubicle

Daytona USA vs. Micro Machines is really a thing?
Are the Micro Machines games not just licensed shlock? Wikipedia tells me that the publishers include Camerica, Ocean, and THQ. Not a good sign.
