Probably the absolute best of the pre-Super Mario Bros. platforming games, even if it is named after diarrhea!
A real classic. It was released on pretty much everything back in the day. I'm partial to the ColecoVision version but I hear it's killer on the Master System.

I did not realize that was the case. That sucks! The 5200 controller is terrible and it seems like a lot of them barely even work these days.
Have: Sega Genesis, SNES, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari 800XL, PC, N3DS XL, Wii U, GBA, Xbox One, Switch

No no. That's working as intended. They were barely functional when they were new.
I know that a lot of Intellivision titles ended up being ported to the 2600, sometimes with a name change along the way (see Astrosmash on INTV to Astroblast on Atari).
But did Space Hawk ever get a 2600 port? If it did, I can't find it.

5200 controllers aren't that hard to fix, but yeah, even working as intended, they're still barely functional. It's a shame, too, because it's really a good system aside from that.

That's one thing I found most fascinating about the second generation. You'd see ports of games by Coleco and M-Network to the 2600, Atarisoft and Coleco making games for the Intellivision, and even some Atarisoft games for the Colecovision. Competitors getting together to make sure everyone got your games. What a warm and fuzzy feeling not displayed anywhere else

There are still Atari fans who argue that Coleco's Atari ports were intentionally bad to pump up the Colecovision. I don't necessarily buy that logic since they were selling their own versions of the 2600 hardware.
I actually like the 2600 version of Venture too. It doesn't step to the Colecovision one but it's pretty solid for the 2600.
