I initially had high hopes for CN's Hall of Fame series, but nothing new has been announced in that line for a year now. Which means we're probably not getting season 2 anytime soon, if at all. Which, of course, sucks. I wish they'd just do complete series sets of every show they put on DVD at all, rather than individual seasons. They always lose interest after one or two seasons. Looking at my collection right now, I can see 1 season of Billy and Mandy, one of Dexter, one of Courage the Cowardly Dog, and one of Johnny Bravo. CN is like a kid with ADHD when it comes to DVDs.AppleQueso wrote:Season 3 and 4 of Dexter's Lab does suck, but Dexter's Lab still hasn't even seen a complete season 2 release. I think there's an austrailian DVD that has half of it, but considering how most of my favorite episodes were from season 2 I'm pretty bummed out.BoringSupreez wrote:Actually, seasons 3 and 4 of Dexter's Lab can stay lost to the archives of Boomerang for all I care, they were no where near as good as season 1 and 2. What I really want, more than anything else from Cartoon Network, is the rest of Flapjack. And the rest of Billy and Mandy would also rule. But I don't see Warner licensing anything to Shout!. It doesn't seem to be their style, they like publishing their own stuff themselves.AppleQueso wrote:It's too bad Cartoon Network/WB doesn't seem to want to license through them.
I'd love to get all of Dexter's Laboratory and Sheep in the Big City on DVD.

Yeah, not to mention the Hall of Fame sets are pretty bare bones ('cept for the Johnny Bravo one).
They did so great with the Powerpuff Girls set, I wish they'd just do that for all of CN's original shows.
Warner owns CN. That might explain why they just don't give a fuck about the releases.

Judging by how CN doesn't rerun their old shows hardly, preferring to play Johnny Test for the millionth time instead, I don't get the impression they care about their old shows, therefore, they don't care about the DVD sets either. Oh, and the one other show they gave the proper treatment was Samurai Jack. They couldn't have gotten away with not releasing that one, though. The fans would have whined probably as much as Gargoyles fans do today, maybe more.AppleQueso wrote:Yeah, not to mention the Hall of Fame sets are pretty bare bones ('cept for the Johnny Bravo one).

doesn't most of their old shows get pretty regular play on Boomerang?

Which almost no one gets as part of their cable package. You don't get that channel unless you buy the most deluxe package available, like the 250 channel pack, usually. So for most, including myself, it's as good as nonexistent. Whereas CN is often included in one of the two cheapest packs.AppleQueso wrote:doesn't most of their old shows get pretty regular play on Boomerang?
Cable would really be so much better if you could just do a buffet sort of thing. Just pick as many channels as you want, off a list of 250 or whatever, and only have to pay for those channels. So if you only wanted say, 6 channels, you could get those without paying for dozens of channels you'll never watch like MTV. But that's like wishing that game companies would all agree on one standard player, like the movie companies. It'll never happen.

Peter Pan provided amazing depth. Pirates of Dark Water I think was ABC; it looked nice (like a pre-Disney Atlantis style) but sank halfway through the season. The only upside is that it didn't turn into Gargoyles 3 or Conan the Barbarian -- getting a half-assed third season when the first two wrapped up the series nicely. Beetlejuice is still Beetlejuice; it's abstract visuals hold up well today and the GameBoy game was hilarious.thatdanGguy wrote:Anybody remember the older Fox animation blocks of pirates of dark water, peter pan and the lost boys or Beetlejuice? I never hear about these cartoons anymore. I'm sure they wouldn't really appeal to me now, cept' for maybe Bettlejuice.
It stinks! (...that it got canned; I still remember the potential "fattest man alive" Jay Sherman.)thatdanGguy wrote:And one last thought, the Critic still holds up today. Love that cartoon.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.

I read the Censored 11 were going to be released through the Warner archive, as a way of releasing it without any "concerned parents" causing an uproar. The guy who controlled the Looney Tunes Golden Collections is in, so expect a reliable release.AppleQueso wrote:Speaking of WB, wouldn't it be great if they'd actually release all the 'banned' Loony Tunes stuff?
I'm only moderatedly interested in Coal Black and the rest meh, I would rather watch something else.

Cable companies have repeatedly rejected the very notion, saying it would cost users more.BoringSupreez wrote:Cable would really be so much better if you could just do a buffet sort of thing. Re: Let's have a western animation thread
I just tried watching the first episode of Code Monkeys, and I had to stop halfway through. I just cannot stand that kind of humor in a TV show. It just feels like South Park; trying to hard too be outrageous and shocking. I can see how people could like it, but it certainly is not for me.Bradtemple87 wrote:Code Monkeys

I watched the first episode, but stopped half-way through the second. It wasn't the "shock" that bothered me, I just found it incredibly unfunny.lisalover1 wrote:I just tried watching the first episode of Code Monkeys, and I had to stop halfway through.
