You sold the game/book/movie once already though. You set an asking price, and the costumer said yes. After that, the costumer does what he wants with it. If you think the retailer is going to make more money off of it, and that you deserve more money, then go ahead, charge 100$ for a game. See how that works.Hatta wrote:Shouldn't the same reasoning apply to used games then?

One person paid, two people enjoyed. That sounds like lost revenue to me.

So under your logic it's OK for somebody to buy a game and share it with everybody he knows? How is that any different from piracy?ZeroAX wrote:You sold the game/book/movie once already though. Are you guys serious? How it is different from piracy??? If I buy a car and let everyone I know borrow it, then half of the time I won't have a freaking car.
BTW, how about we demolish houses once the original owners leave the place. Why should they get to sell it? The construction companies lose money that way.

Exactly.ZeroAX wrote:If I buy a car and let everyone I know borrow it, then half of the time I won't have a freaking car.
As it has been said before, you buy a commodity (the disc with the manual and etc), you can do whatever you want with that commodity because it's yours. You can leave it to rest in your shelf until it rots or you can play it everyday because you paid for the ownership of it.
No matter how you slice it, a cake is still only one cake.

This is exactly why it makes no sense to treat non-scarce goods like scarce goods.

But they ARE a scarce product. Cause someone has to make it. The services he provides must be payed.Hatta wrote: This is exactly why it makes no sense to treat non-scarce goods like scarce goods.

The labor is scarce, the copies are not.
