Serious Sam: The Second Encounter (PC)(FPS)
X-Men: Mutant Academy (PS1)(Fighting)
Street Fighter Alpha (PS2)(Fighting)
Extermination (PS2)(Survival Horror)
Spyro the Dragon (PS1)(Platformer)

TOTAL: 5

So I've only ever played one Spyro game before, one of the much later PS2 entries, which was on my list of beaten games last year, and I really wanted to sit down and try out the original as it came highly recommended from my girlfriend. What I ended up getting was a surprisingly fun and relatively easy game that I found quite enjoyable. Level designs were well done for the most part*, the controls were solid, and I rarely ran into camera issues. I'd say this is definitely a high pick to introduce someone to platformers, or gaming in general, as the controls and rules of the world are pretty easy to learn and the game isn't too challenging. If you haven't played Spyro and want a PS1 3D platformer to try, look up the original.

* I disliked super chargers, and any level they appeared in usually had some puzzle which required some thought, but for the most part it wasn't too terrible. Except the Tree Tops level. It's unfortunately the largest level in the game, the most difficult, and in my opinion, the most poorly designed. After dying numerous times attempting to figure out the two most complex series of jumps in the entire game, I began consulting guides on GameFAQs, only to discover that all of the guide writers hated this level, had mostly come up with different means of getting through it, and almost all seemed to agree that their method was a glitch, bug, or fluke. After the quality design of the rest of the game, this place just felt like a letdown. And for the record, I lost a grand total of 39 lives in this one level, over 5 times the amount I lost in any other area of the game. It's a shame when a top notch game has one place that nearly ruins the experience.

Just beat my first game of 2011! and it was...

Drakengard :/

The game was... odd. I purchased it solely on the fact that I vaguely remembered reading that there were incestuous themes in the game, only to learn that the US version severally censored the content.

The game itself was kind of bland and repetitive, but interesting enough for me to see it to the end. The musical score was by far the greatest aspect of the game. If there is a sound track available, I would recommend it.

I actually like the super chargers in Spyro. I guess Tree Tops just felt out of place because it wasn't obvious where to go next, compared to the rest of the levels, which are pretty straightforward.

Spyro 1 was the first video game I ever played, and I loved it. I still remember all the frustrating hours spent on tree tops lol. Worst level ever, but the rest of the game is worth it. I suggest playing spyro 2 and 3, those being the only other ones I enjoy.

Call of Duty 4: Modern warfare (Ps3)
Soul Calibur 3 (Ps2)
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (Snes)
Warioware, Inc. (Gba) *NEW*
Half Life 2: Episode 1 (Ps3) *NEW*
Half Life 2: Episode 2 (Ps3) *NEW*

Total: 6

Gave warioware a spin since i got my SP. I normally beat Warioware yearly, or try to at least. It's a collection of minigames set up by genre. It's pretty short, but enjoyable and it has high replay value. My favorite is 9-volts level, since all the minigames are from nes games.

It was nice to play half life again, as I beat both episodes in a matter of hours. Half life is my favorite modern fps. (I don't consider it an fps) Big fan of the half life series (well, valve games in general) and I was excited to play as everyones favorite crowbar swinger yet again. I hated how each episode ends in a cliffhanger. Mostly everything about them was the same as HL2, but they looked a lot better on orange box (I beat hl2 on oXbox). Can't wait for whenever the next half life game comes out.

Next up is something retro. I got a bunch of ps3 games so I'm going back and forth between beating a retro game and beating a modern game. My N64 title for the year should be next...

Strange, I don't remember any frustrating parts in Spyro 1. I really enjoyed it. It's fun playing a find everything platformer every now and then. I'm usually pretty good at them. Funny thing about Spyro, it is one of the only games I can think of where I use to experience feelings of nausea while playing. Something about that game's visuals didn't agree with me and I usually never am affected at all by video games. I didn't even get nautious playing Mirror's Edge. Weird.

1/1: Octodad PC
1/1: Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter (Co-op) PC
1/6: Something Amiss PC
1/6: Sam & Max 104: Abe Lincoln Must Die! PC
1/8: Donkey Kong Jr. Arcade
1/8: Frogger Arcade
1/8: Pac-Man Arcade
1/8: Smash TV (Co-op) Arcade
1/12: Achievement Unlocked PC
1/13: Achievement Unlocked 2 PC
1/15: K.O.L.M. PC NEW

Total: 11

K.O.L.M. took me around 72 minutes to beat, but I got 100%. It's a neat little platformer, but it can be frustrating, as there are a couple places you can easily get stuck if you forget a skill (damn dash pads).
