What platformer are you playing now?
Re: What platformer are you playing now?
Picked Super Metroid back up. Just got the ice beam. Now to freeze my way out of Norfair.

If they're really bugging you, you can look up the order. As long as you never lose a round, the order they use will always be the same.Mr.White555 wrote:Working my way through Alex Kidd in Miracle World. So far I have favorable opinion of the game but those rock, paper, scissors matches are killing me.
Also, on the cave level (with the lava and the little walking rock dudes) yo'll notice a blue orb with a red star on it, in a low down section. Don't worry about getting out, the wall to the right is fake. It's before the 2nd rock-paper-scissors fight iirc. If you grab that, you can see what the opponent will use. They often change their minds last second though, so be ready to change accordingly last second. For all that people complain, even if you don't know the order, you only ever have to play rock paper scissors properly once. Unlike Enchanted Castle. God that game sucks.

I'm not above doing that. It's just unfair that the boss fights should rely on luck rather than skill.alienjesus wrote:If they're really bugging you, you can look up the order. Like I said, only the first one really has to. You get an item that helps remove the luck component just before the second. Its permanent and never runs out.BoringSupreez wrote:I'm not above doing that. I know it's not 100% a platformer through and through, but I am lovin' me some Gargoyle's Quest II on the NES! This is truly a wonderful game, in my opinion. Just sayin'.

Maybe more action run-and-gun than pure platformer but I just got Aliens: Infestation. Great Metroid clone. Highly recommended if you feel like playing a game that feels like a long lost 16-bit title.

Mutant Mudds
Not too impressed so far. It's a fairly generic platformer. Jump here, jump there, shoot some generic looking enemy, rinse, repeat. Oh look! Spikes! Oh look! Ice level
The foreground/background stuff has been done before. The soundtrack is overrated too. It's good, but not amazing. I guess it's an okay game at 8.99, but I'm finding it quite boring as someone who has played lots of platformers. Yet another overhyped game

Commander Keen. Episode 3.
I breezed through the first episode, spent an hour on the last stage of the second one, and now I am dying everywhere forever on the third one.

Episode 2 and 3 are the hardest in the series. I've never won them without cheats, although now that I think about it I haven't played either of them since I was 12 (when I sucked at games).Prof. Bars wrote:Commander Keen. Episode 3.

It's getting pretty Bananas now that it takes 5 hits to kill a common enemy. Urge to hit "G" "O" and "D" rising.BoringSupreez wrote:Episode 2 and 3 are the hardest in the series.
