Not sure what you mean by "cop out". Perhaps you were expecting to find Walt or Jesse in those bags?

Season 2 was actually all planned out and written ahead of time. They actually dropped hints in the titles of the episodes where they showed the wreckage.

If you read the titles from all those episodes in order, it describes the events that are going to happen.

It's just the whole plane crash thing comes out of left field and is a bit ridiculous - it struck me as lazy writing and it has very little if anything to do with the main plot of the show. I didn't expect to find Walter or Jesse in the bags, but I assumed (wrongly) that the season long tease would be leading up to a significant event that really changed things for characters/advanced the plot. The truth is that Skyler's leaving Walt was a much more interesting and fitting end to the episode. The plane crash was just dumb.

Anyway, I am a few episodes into season 3 and there are already some developments that are more interesting than most what happened in most of Season 2. Hopefully I'll be caught up by the end of the week.

Also, for some reason DirectTV doesn't have AMC HD even though they have regular AMC. Stupid. I guess I'll have to torrent Season 4 as it comes out week to week :?

^ You can watch it on AMC's website, though I don't know about the quality.

It did change things, for Walt at least. You can call it another brick in the wall. I think what I was about to talk about is in the beginning of season 3, so I don't wanna spoil anything for you if you haven't seen it yet.

The plane crash does effect the events of season 3, and everything going further. That's what I like about the show, small things have big consequences. The idea behind the plane crash was to show that Walt's actions aren't localized to just the people immediately around him. It shows how one minor (somewhat minor) choice can lead to something much bigger. Which is a running theme in the show, and has changed the course of walt and gus's relationship (all this is because of jesse's response to an event that occured in the middle of season 2!)

^ On top of that, it's also part of Walt's journey from average Joe to king pin Scarface. That's what I meant by "another brick in the wall." And THAT has been the idea from the start.

Ok, I have two episodes of Season 3 left, so I should def be caught up before Sunday, if not by the end of today :)

Season 3 has been much better than Season 2, but Season 1 still takes the cake (just barely). The episode where the RV gets crushed and the subsequent episode where the shootout happens were really gripping stuff.

And unless that plane crash is somehow really important in the next two episodes, I stand by my claim that it was lazy writing.

Those of you who think this is the best show ever - have you watched much of what's been on HBO for the past decade or so? Breaking Bad is good, but I can think of about 5-6 HBO dramas that are all much better. Still, after you get past those, Breaking Bad probably beats almost anything else on basic cable or network TV in recent memory...

I haven't really liked much of the HBO stuff I've seen -- I've been very happy with AMC with Breaking Bad and Mad Men. More my style.

Also, you're to the last two eps of Season 3: great stuff -- two of my very favorite TV eps of all time.

No comments on 402. Hmm.

I couldn't believe the trailerriffic line "get me in a room with him and I'll do the rest" was delivered to Mike! Damn, walts got some balls. . . or he's desperate. Probably both. And now Mike's made it pretty clear he's loyal. . . at least for now.

My dad texted me during the show and said "too much hank and marie". I didn't think there was too much, but considering the pressure walt is under, I obviously wanted to get back to that storyline. But this is Breaking Bad, so I know we won't get 13 episodes of hank crapping in a bedpan and yelling at Marie. My guess is at some point in the next couple episodes, Gomez will stop by with the notebook and Hank will get some incentive to get his ass walking.

Jesse is now clearly suffering PTSD like hank, so that should be interesting.

And the amazing eyebrow man doesn't want to sell. I wondered how that would play out. Skyler seemed so sure they'd just. . . buy it, and everyone else seemed to be going along with the idea that it'd be that easy. So I'm glad something twisted that plan up. I wonder how Walt will handle that?
