Hmm, that's not a bad idea. And it does include things like the StarFox Super Weekend Competition cart, which isn't on Nintendo's list.
yeah, the one i printed out didnt have shaq fu i think, but other than that, it should have most things

Ah, but everybody needs a copy of Shaq Fu...
I also am a big fan of writing up genre lists, if there's a particular area I want to focus on. You know, like a "I'm aiming specifically for these carts" kind of deal. I did it while I was looking up fighting games, and it helped immensely, especially for remembering the fighters that I had never played before.

vgpc has the genre next to each game, so you can highlight the ones you want to get!

Ack wrote:As of right now? 132 unique SNES carts, along with 1 Super Gameboy and 1 Game Genie. But I've got a limited budget and I've only been collecting for a little over a year(and most of that was spent just looking up fighters), so I don't think it's too bad. I've got a lot of the big names, though there are some that I really need.
Well you're beating me by a small margin so far lol. I've got about 100 right now, not counting the Super Gameboy, Game Genie, or the ToToTEK flash cart. I thought to go for the complete collection, but I don't know. I think I've got most of the big names, but I've been meaning to make that thread (the one we talked about some months back) for a while now. 132 is a lot of games though, you're well on your way.
The save batteries are the weirdest thing though. I rented (a year or two after it came out) DKC3 from a local video store with a dead battery, and I had my original GoldenEye cart's battery die when the game was still being stocked in stores. On the other hand, most if not all the batteries in my NES carts are still strong.

Yeah, it's a little over 1/6th of all the carts for the console from what I can figure. And I haven't noticed any dead batteries yet. In fact, the only dead battery for a cart I've ever seen was in a copy of Link's Awakening that my girlfriend bought. It was an...emotional experience.
Anyway, I remember about...70 carts or so ago checking out your SNES collection and thinking "Oh man, this guy's got way more carts than me, I'll never own that many." It was a bit motivating. Now I'm looking at that list of the top 10 total carts on Backloggery.com for SNES. I'm about 50 short of the current #10 position. I'm on my way.

what would you two say your A. favorite piece in your snes collection is and B.) your rarest snes game is

A) Final Fantasy 3
B) Probably Lufia II, though I don't really know about how large its print run was. It's one of the more expensive carts I own. Also, I know Street Fighter Alpha 2 and Frogger aren't as common, mostly due to their extremely late release dates.
I suppose I should add though that the two rarest games I own for any console, not including imports, would have to be my copies of ClayFighter: Sculptor's Cut, and Transformers: Beast Wars Transmetals, both for the Nintendo 64.

mine would be
a.) boogerman, just because that game is so fun
b.) although earthbound is my most expensive,i think my copies of harvest moon and ogre battle might be rarer, i spent a lot of money trying to get the rarest stuff first, i wish i could find a copy of sculptors cut, and the transformers game my friend gave me for an old beat up ipod like a month ago, it was a good day, i didnt know frogger was a little harder to find, i will have to hunt for it now
i think my rarest game over all would be suikoden 2 or some of my rarer nes games that are boxed, like chip n dale 2

Awesome stuff! I wish I had copies of Harvest Moon and Ogre Battle. Oh well, I suppose I'll have to be sated with Super Mario RPG and Secret of Mana for now. And the only import I own for the console is Final Fantasy V, so you blow me away there.
I say Frogger's rare, but that's mostly me speculating. To my knowledge, it was the last officially released game for the Super Nintendo in the United States, hence why I say that. Of course, it's still Frogger, so it doesn't exactly command a high price. I just think it's pretty funny to own it.

You'll definately have to get Ogre Battle at some point. I personally like to put on Queen 2 when I play, for extra awesome.
My favorite game in my SNES collection is really hard to nail down. Final Fantasy VI a fantastic RPG, and Super Metroid is a total package, but I can't discount the sheer charm of Earthbound. It's definately one of those three.
In terms of rarest, it's probably either Earthbound or Ogre Battle. I'm not sure what the sales figures are between the two, but I do still have my original guide for Earthbound.
