The PS4 thread
Re: The PS4 thread
The WiiU features may have been key to the game, but when Nintendo took the low road they did dooming the system and basically any game sales other than their own it's not like Ubisoft had much of a choice taking a hit on it. It is pretty weak they didn't find a better way to make things look or work on the ported formats but it goes to show they're lazy.

There's some truth to that, but it's also worth noting that the lack of sales that 3rd parties cited was, at least in part, a problem of their own making. The Wii U was never going to outsell the PS4, but if they hadn't jumped ship so quickly, I truly think it would have stayed competitive with the Xbox One (although, from what I've read, it's really not that far behind - roughly 13 million vs roughly 18 million).
I think what we've got here is a generation with sales like 6th gen; because Sony's system is selling so well, everything's going to look like a failure in comparison. Let's take out the Playstation 2 from 6th gen. The Xbox sold around 24 million units, the Gamecube sold around 22 million, and the Dreamcast sold around 11 million. Gamecube and Xbox were right on par with each other. In terms of profits for the company, the Gamecube was the only system to be "successful" other than the PS2. But we still look at it as a failure because it's always in the context of the PS2. Take the PS4 out of the equation, and the Xbox One and Wii U really aren't that far apart from one another, and while I don't know about the Xbox One's profits or losses, Nintendo has made a net profit on the Wii U. A small profit, but it's a profit nonetheless; the console is really only a "failure" when you compare it to the PS4.
I'm not trying to be Super Nintendo Apologist #1 here, but I do think that we spend too much time comparing consoles to one another to determine value and not enough time looking at each console on its own apart from competitors' success. It's not that Nintendo really "took the low road;" they just do their own thing, and hardware power wasn't their priority this gen. Was that a mistake in terms of competing with Microsoft and Sony? Yeah, but they didn't set out to make a system that was just like the Xbox One or PS4; judging them based on that idea isn't exactly fair.
Just food for thought. Not trying to start an argument or attack you or anything, Tanooki.

Can't argue it.
Third parties were equal fault of both Nintendo and them. Nintendo for not taking their offer to make a me-too spec system so they could easily port to it like the other two. Third parties for being butt hurt crybabies, self sabotaging their own releases, placing out out of date versions of others, whining the whole time, and doom and glooming the entire mess. Both sides brought that hell down on themselves. WiiU isn't that far behind, despite the being thrown under the bus which says if anything something for the Nintendo brand alone still sells, but no longer enough to survive. Had they not been dicks (third parties) and kept the games coming, but had them out at the same time, not stripped of parts or DLC, and other corner cutting, not releasing year old games with halfassed panel touch display/touch mechanics, it would be a different picture to a point. Anything PS3/360 got it could handle with some work, halfassed you get sketchy issues CODBO2 had, but done right it's wow like AC4 was and COD Ghosts. Blame is well shared.
I don't think it's an attack, and Nintendo only took the low road as far as gimping their hardware for that (cool but stupid) controller of theirs. IT should be evaluated on its own merit, games it only got, but annoyingly most of it is their stuff and it's sadly a bit on the hit and miss side, but when it hits, it hits like gold still. They shouldn't be judged directly against the other two, it's a bit unfair, but judged fairly definitely on what games it has and the quality given from whatever party is and that's where it suffered worst and why I no longer have one (which sucks as I liked it and more than Wii.)

Re: The PS4 thread
Anyone else preordering God Eater 2: Rage Burst it just popped up on Amazon the other day. It also comes with God Eater Resurrection although it's probably just a voucher for the digital edition
. Really psyched for it even though I never got around to playing my copy of God Eater Burst on PSP

Wish they didn't launch at the same time because I'm going straight into GE2 and reckon I wouldn't want to play through an older game after.
Re: The PS4 thread
They are both technically older games God Eater 2 came out in 2013 it just didn't get a U.S. release. Both are essentially upgraded ports and will be running on a newer engine with a lot of upgrades so they should be very similar in quality.

Re: The PS4 thread
What I meant is that I'd rather play the latest version when both games come out at the same time where I live regardless of their original Japanese launch, unless there was a story continuity forcing me to play the older game.

Fairy Fencer F is getting a remaster with extra content for those interested

Re: The PS4 thread
Not sure if anyone else ordered the PS4's CE of Song of the Deep, but the Steam Soundtrack voucher inside also seems to unlock a full Steam Version of the game. You may want to grab/redeem a code now, in case it is an error...
I played around with the game for an hour or so on the PS4 and dig it, but getting the Steam version as well is some nice icing on the cake.

Re: The PS4 thread
I know there have been an overwhelming amount of remasters on the PS4 but I have been counting the days until the Bioshock remastered collection releases. I absolutely loved the first game and somehow I never played the second. I really enjoyed Infinite as well but have not played the DLC which I hear is quite good. I also picked up Resident Evil 5 remaster, never played it before, hopefully I will have some time this weekend.
