(stupid instagram urls won't embed properly on our board)

Not my joke, but I sincerely hope they release this movie under the title Terminator: Mega Dryve in foreign markets.

From what I know of the characters those actors played, unless there is a Nova movie in the works, I doubt they will return. Even if they did, at least two would have limited screen time. And I thought the Collector, since he featured in the Thor 2 stinger, would actually do something in this movie but he was just for an exposition dump and a gag at the end. Weird.

I too saw Guardians of the Galaxy today, at the only English showing the local theater had (still came with Turkish subtitles though). It had a very fun feel to it, moreso than the other Marvel movies... which I'm OK with. I'm getting tired of the never-ending wave of standard Marvel superhero movies. Guardians wasn't high cinema in any way, but I think we'll look back on it in the future in the same way we look back on movies like the original TMNT. My main criticism is:
Sload Soap wrote:Like these other superhero movies the character development ends in act two and the final act is just one huge CGI effects battle against the bad guy.
This is so stupidly common.

Also if you haven't already seen the movie, make sure to stay through the credits for a very unexpected little scene.
I can't believe they stuck Howard the Duck in there.

The voice acting is surprisingly great...but Splinter isn't too hot.

You know that two species of aliens are at war and signed a peace treaty, but why and over what is very ambiguous.
I don't know if I felt it was really relevant to get into that further because the Kree weren't the focus of the film, nor was the hostilities between them and Xandar. It was just there to introduce that hostilities had occurred in the past setting up Ronan as a fanatic opposed to peace. It served the purpose fine I thought.
BogusMeatFactory wrote:I felt that there was very little development of the characters outside of Star Lord and organizations like the Nova Corps seemed incredibly underdeveloped. I feel like a lot of this was catered fan service with the idea that the majority of people watching the film knew who these people were. The reality is, not a lot of people followed Guardians of the Galaxy, so it needed a little extra tender love and care in the pacing of the film.
Got to disagree with you on the characters, I thought everyone got a few moments to themselves. I had very little expectations for Gamora and Drax and came out of the film feeling they were fully fleshed out characters.

My girlfriend had the same feeling about the Nova Corps as you. She wanted them to explain the organization some more and was a little confused about their role as a faction in the film. Apparently a lot more was planned with the Nova Corps but James Gunn dropped it feeling like the plot was already too Nova Corps heavy. It would've been nice to have at least a little more explanation but there was so much going on I understand why there wasn't.
BogusMeatFactory wrote:Speaking of which, the film moves at such a rapid pace that it is hard to keep up.
The pace was pretty breakneck. I didn't have trouble following anything but I did feel like I probably missed some things and want to see it again (though mostly because it was a lot of fun).
BogusMeatFactory wrote:I love James Gunn's films and you can tell that his influences from Troma are present in some of the strange and oddball set pieces and performances. At times he walked the line of camp and charm and it worked great. One of my favorite films is the film Super, which I highly recommend to people as well..as the film is just spectacular in a deranged sort of way.
That's one of the coolest things about Guardians of the Galaxy I think. A lot of these directors make really poor transitions to big budget blockbusters but under all the bells and whistles it still felt like a James Gunn movie.

I think it's a great franchise-start movie that if nurtured properly has a lot of potential to develop into something pretty huge with cartoons and toylines like Ghostbusters and Ninja Turtles did in the 80's and 90's

^We've had Hydra, SHIELD, Kree, and I may have missed it in one of the movies, but Skrulls have to be right around the corner unless FOX owns the rights to them...Which they might as FOX owns F4.

The Chitauri (the mooks supplied to Loki by Thanos) in The Avengers were originally the Ultimate universe equivalent of the Skrulls. The real Skrulls have shown up in that continuity now though as a related species.

So it's entirely possible they used the Chitauri because FOX has the rights to the Skrulls.

I really hope Marvel can get back F4, and if they do I really hope they keep it quiet. How many people would utterly lose their shit if the post credits scene from Avengers 3 is a shot of Galactus, goofy helmet and all, staring over Earth?
