lmfao, I think he's only actually late once or twice in the game. Yeah, some of those notebook quests were obnoxious. Go to the second floor of the main building and look on the sofa facing away from the stairs.

See and I checked the sofa, i'll have to try again when I get home. (I've got to try and pick up my vita from my dads...this game is a great on the go game from the looks of it). Plus right now don't have time to play much on ps3 since I want to devote that to ToP instead. It just seems the warning bell for being late goes off several times when on the way to class since everytime he's gotten stopped by either Elliot or one of the snobby class I characters. Patrick is the one I really would just love to punch square in the face right about now....such an arrogant pissant

Because many gamers are stereotyped as NEET(Not in Education, Employment, or Training) so having a lazy/carefree protagonist is more relatable possibly.

Most likely it's simply because having a goofball/inexperienced avatar who has plenty of room to grow as a character is deemed more enjoyable.

Still it seems rather common in the one's I have. But ToS is wonderful otherwise, despite I feel like i've spent way to long on these first two days just exploring campus and getting lost too...

Patrick only gets MILDLY less infuriating. I still wanted to punch him in the throat when I finished the game.

They definitely know how to build characters for this game though. They actually feel like real people I'd meet in real life. Patrick is a wonderful example because I've met a few like him, and the main character I relate too because I'm basically him in college. I bust my tail but still struggle here and there(I've got mostly B's besides the A in math). I'm really going to have to move to the vita version though...glad it has cross save but man did they implement it weird(I'm just going to try and wire up the ps3 through my powerline adapter)

Does anyone know if the Final Fantasy V SNES fan translations have improved over the years? I mean I probably haven't emulated the SNES version in over 10 years, so I'm assuming some quality has been made haha.

Actually, now that I think about it maybe the fan translations were always good, but I definitely know the official PSX Anthology version was terrible. I wonder if it still tarnishes FFV's legacy a bit to this day. The GBA version made me a fan since the script was 100x better.

Next time I go through it though I want to go with the SNES version, so if anyone has any recs on a translated version let me know.

I think Popo plays it five times a year so maybe he knows.

I always thought the SNES version was pretty good. The "official" patch is the RPGe one. There's also a script revision that adds / modifies some of the text to flow better or integrate parts of the GBA translation.

Excellent. 8)

Reminds me that I still need to play Secret of Mana with the revised translation someday too, lol.

Yeah, the RPGe translation was always solid. Maybe a bit on the dry side compared to the GBA version, but certainly not the terribleness of the PSX version (and that's not counting shit like Y Burn).
