My wife and I are still watching these. They are so awesome. (Between Netflix and Hulu+, we have instant access to almost every episode.)

We are currently half-way through the "Key to Time" series, and after we finish that, we intend to skip around to what are considered some of the show's very best serials (i.e., City of Death, Caves of Androzani, etc.) After we finish those, we might turn to the new series.

Just wrapped up the new season of 24, which was a nice surprise. I've seen the full run of the show and the fact that they still squeeze compelling drama and tight action out of this formula is really quite something. I quite liked the 12 episode "shortened" season, too and hope it comes back for another few.

The Strain has had some cool visual moments scattered throughout the first few episodes, but for the most part it's pretty bland. The main human drama is cliche, the secondary characters all behave as horror movie morons, as opposed to rational human beings, and the whole story feels built around reveals to the lead characters which we the audience already know. It's sort of like the first 30 minutes of a sci-fi movie, where the lead has to be convinced that aliens exist, but once they do the story takes off. Except that first 30 minutes is now drawn out across episode after episode. It doesn't help that after the pilot which was directed by guillermo del toro himself, subsequent episodes have been a lot more uninspired in both the directing and cinematography (seriously, the Pilot looked almost as good as Pacific Rim)

Just watched the most recent episode of the strain. Wow. This is getting painful. Now even the main characters aren't making much sense.

"Hey, we just got attacked by a giant worm that shot out of this guy's mouth"
"We should alert the cdc"
"No, we should... perform an autopsy in this basement right now"
"Why?"
"We should perform an autopsy in this basement right now"

"Ok, we've performed an autopsy in this basement, let's go to the cdc with it now"
"No, we should find another one of these things, so that we have two videos to show them"
"Why?"
"..."

We have been so busy this summer, the wife and I only get to sit and watch TV for an hour or less per night. So we have been slowly working our way through The Flight of the Concords again. I love that show.

My kids also get 2 hrs of TV on non school days, so this summer we have been watching an episode of the original Dukes of Hazzard. Their request. I swear.

Recently polished off the first season of Bates Motel.

Doesn't Freddie Highmore kinda look like a young Christian Campbell?

Also at the moment I'm currently watching the latest TV-Nihon fansubbed episode of Kamen Rider Gaim (episode 41), which recently wrapped up filming (there's still some ADR and events stuff) and the final episode is set to air next month. In fact, I mostly just got into this just to get caught up to the Gaim/ToQger crossover episode (which took place after Gaim's 23rd episode).

I'd kinda love to see an American adaptation of Gaim, though redone as sort of a hybrid of a "Power Rangers"-style Americanization meets hour-long drama.

Also got the latest episode of Ressha Sentai ToQger (episode 24).

@ Luke

I have to be suspicious of any awards show that has Lorde listed under Rock, but from that awful line up I can tell proper genre definitions are the least of their concern.

I've been watching some The Thick of It episodes I didn't know existed. I love this show, it manages to be both incredibly low and high brow at the same time. It's kind of like Punch magazine for the 21st century in that respect.

Why isn't "Turn Down For What" nominated for Best Video with a Social Message?
