I have been browsing GOG & Steam for some retro PC games and some have some system requirements like 512MB RAM and 2 GHZ processors (DOOM 1 +Ultimate Doom, Beneath a Steel Sky).
Why are the requirements so high given they were released in an age of 133Mhz computers

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
probably because you're not just running the game, you're running it inside a wrapper like DOSBox and there have been other fixes, etc to make it play on more modern machines.RCBH928 wrote:I have been browsing GOG & Steam for some retro PC games and some have some system requirements like 512MB RAM and 2 GHZ processors (DOOM 1 +Ultimate Doom, Beneath a Steel Sky).

The more I attempt to clean here and there in my room and actually get all my games back on the shelf, the more I realize this one ikea billy isn't enough. Already have just about every home console system taking up at least a half shelf if not getting closer and getting close to over half the drawer under my bed being filled(and that's not including if I was able to case up everything and then that drawer would be slammed at this point). Man that's a scary thought at this point...

I'm with you on that; I thought Asylum was the best of the series and hated City. Origins was okay. Knight is a lot of like City but MUCH better. I felt like Arkham City tried and failed to do open world; Arkham Knight, while still not as good as Arkham Asylum, at least got the open world right this time.Xeogred wrote:I wish I could like the Arkham games, I absolutely loved the first one. Civilization VI may have a lot of cool stuff, but the AI is extremely dumb and balance is out of wack. You can be playing the best game ever made, but if your opponent is an idiot, it won't be fun.
I think I'll wait until it's patched.

Yeah, I love Civ VI, but I think Civ V was the better game.

That's what is really painful here, I was a massive TAS fan and all. This side of Batman IS Batman to me. So I'd love to see how these stories and characters unfold. But yeah, hard to get over some of the game design elements that I'm not too into anymore.MrPopo wrote:Knight is definitely more of City's gameplay, so if you didn't like City don't worry about Knight. Though I'm massively enjoying the story. Unfortunately, all the best bits are very integrated into the gameplay, so you can't just do something like watch cutscenes on youtube.
I'm actually finally enjoying Witcher 3, so maybe those will click for me someday. Can only handle so much sandbox/open world stuff thesedays... lol

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
So... I have about $20 to spend on PSN (on PS3 specifically) and I'm looking for recommendations of what to pick up. I have hotline Miami and SOTN (although I would have preferred physical, this was quite a bit cheaper) and also Fez, which I'm finding abysmal.
So, any suggestions?

You messed up with Fez.
Get Shovel Knight.
Get Shovel Knight.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Aw, man, I loved Fez.
Anyway, as already recommended, Shovel Knight is absolutely fantastic if you love NES-era platfomers. It's easily as good as anything that came out on the system.
I also hear good things about Axiom Verge, which somehow I haven't bought yet.
