I didn't even get into retro gaming until 2011. Really boned myself on that front.

Yeah, I feel fairly similarly about that. It's pretty intimidating seeing such high prices on so many games so I've pretty much given up trying to get SNES games and mostly go for SuFami games. Not that I see many out and about, but it sure beats paying an arm and a leg for some titles ><;

Unfortunately my time in Japan has shown me that even Super Famicom games are getting out of control expensive.
Remember when you could just get the japanese version of Hagane for 20 bucks compared to the ultra pricey US version? Now its 75-90 for cart only, and goes up from there.
I saw other games, like Ghost Chaser Densei for the sake of example, jumping over 400.
Some stuff is still uber cheap of course, like the more famous rpgs, but prices are getting up there overall.

Ugh. I don't even want to look. I'm afraid the first thing I see'll give me heart palpitations.
I'll just keep trying my luck at the thrift stores.

BoneSnapDeez wrote:I'm losing interest in the "SNES" - I'm essentially being priced out, sadly. I've only purchased one domestic SNES game this entire year - Raiden Trad - though I have purchased several Super Famicom titles. If pricing trends continue I may jump ship and switch over to Japanese games completely. Not just for SNES, but for the NES as well. Things have gotten to the point where the NES and SNES games on my "want list" are more expensive than the AES games on my "want list." Can't complain too much as I have managed to accumulate over 100 SNES/Super Famicom titles these last few years.
Haven't been playing much SNES lately. I've been busy and haven't been playing much of anything, really.
Other than getting Hyperzone for $5 at the flea last weekend and finding a good deal on Mega Man X with the manual online I haven't bought a SNES game in like a year. The NES has been a little over 2 years now I believe other than this small lot I picked up just to flip and keep a few games I owned as a kid in it. I was priced out of interest, not affordability on some aspects of it but it soured my mood entirely. Since the NES got bad first I went towards Famicom and ended up with around 15+ titles which are amazing and didn't go for much at all. Super Famicom has been rising though, kind of been ignoring it because of that.
What I did was jump into Gameboy as almost all of it, as game only goes at least, it still very cheap in the 0-15 range for most of it, little goes over that 20-30 mark. And then I decided I'd like to discover the Genesis library some this month as I owned one long ago but used little of it, I found it's kind of like Gameboy, relatively ignored price wise as so little of it is expensive too. If you just can't quit, it's best to just jump ship and go in another direction before you get so down on it you just walk.

I did well with SNES this year. I got Super EDF, Uniracers, Soldier of Fortune, and Kyle Petty's No Fear Racing. Still trying to find a resonably priced Sonic Blast Man, however.

Haven't touched my SNES in a long time... I have an everdrive too. Need to start playing some SNES!

Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
While I have been focusing heavily on my GOG stuff, I did take a break to blast through Pinocchio a few weeks back. I might sit down with a couple more games before the end of the year.

Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
I haven't picked up a SNES (or NES) game in quite some time either. I have pretty extensive collections, however, and it is hard for me to find any games I need for them. Moreover, when I do find games, they usually cost more than I care to pay for them. I am also focused on collecting for other systems right now. (It's still a great time to be buying 360, PS3, and Wii games!) Once I wrap up my 7th generation collections - only 52 games to go! - I will start working on my "retro" collections a bit more.
EDIT: I also agree with Tanooki that the Gameboy and Gameboy Color are probably the best Nintendo systems for budget-conscious collectors right now.

The last SNES game I bought was back in...April I want to say. It has certainly been a while. I'm having issues with space though, which is a major reason why I've slowed down. Also, I have been so focused on GOG.
