(something to try and break the ice a bit and move the discussion somewhere else)

Genre?

oh right, it's death metal. Sorta in the vein of Benediction or later Bolt Thrower, with a tiny bit of Death (as in the band) and some thrashier stuff here and there (maybe thrashier than I'm giving it credit for...) Very minimal blast beats. Vocals are kinda a low-mid bark, something along the lines of a more American version of Karl Willets or Dave Ingram.

I don't know, it feels weird to try and describe your own music, since you're intimately familiar with it to the extent that it can be hard to place it in the bigger picture.

Okay, admitting I got way too fired up in those last few posts, and apologizing. Sorry.

Doesn't mean I'm taking back my point (because I feel the same about it). I just went overboard and it's not worth the stress now that I'm not so heated about it. No more will be said about it, it's not worth it.

That's awesome. Are you just doing it for the hell of it? Hopefully you'll post some stuff here when you're done.

I've tried my hand at writing metal a bit, but in the end I always just feel like I am more of a player than a writer.

Pretty much just for the hell of it, yeah. I've tried getting bands together a few times, but it's never really worked out so I decided to just do stuff on my own.

I definitely plan to post stuff here. Right now what I'm hoping to do once it's all done is offer mp3s for free and set up something via a print on demand service for CDs if people want them. I know I at least want a few actual CDs for myself, so that'll be an avenue I go down either way.

Some of these songs are ones I've been sitting on for years, but they've managed to hold up well enough to keep I think. I had a couple of guitarist friends who used to write songs too, we'd compose stuff in MIDI and send it back and forth to each other to listen to. I've still got a lot of my friend's midis on my computer. AFAIK, I'm the only one who still actually writes and plays, life got in the way for the other guys.

That's funny, my band mates and I would do the exact same thing. With me though I would always wind up turning whatever I was writing into a video game song. I would set out to write new material for us to maybe play, but then hours later I've written an RPG battle theme or a Contra song. Here's a good example of that haha, I wrote this like 7 years ago or something. I don't even remember what I had intended it to be but I went full on final boss with it.

Best of luck to you though, I'll be on the lookout for updates.
