Re: The Wrestling Thread
^ Ton of potential for a network with all the material they have. However - this is looking like a huge misfire. Remember when they stated April 1st?

I used to subscribe to their On Demand service (until I built my own) - it's still a great deal with great content. Just no crappy reality shows (which they are obsessed with).

I was so excited when I saw that video promo for the network and I saw the old Raw logo, WCW, NWA, and WCCW logos flash across the screen.

So, it was suppose to be a premium channel like HBO? I'm sorry, but that would never work. Right now with the way the economy is there is no way a large number of people would pay extra for it. I don't see how having it as regular cable channel like say the food network or or hgtv wouldn't help the wwe brand.

I also subscribed to this, mostly so I could watch Raw in order from 1993 onwards on my night shift I used to work.retrosportsgamer wrote:

I'm sure if WWE launched a free to air satellite/cable channel with advertisements, they'd probably destroy TNA straight away with all their back catalogue, especially as it would feature the Stings, Hogans and Angles in their prime. And in the UK a major reason why TNA is successful is because it is on a free to air channel whilst WWE is on £50 a month Sky Sports.
Vince probably has enough money to have two channels, and repeat the Monday Night Wars by running Nitro and Raw against each other.
Does the US have something like The Fight Channel that Canada and the UK (did). This was free to air and had Ring of Honor and TNA, along with Japanese feds and shoot interviews.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Thank goodness he was breathing on his own at the hospital and stable. Honestly, with the time frame of him collapsing, then them carrying him back and finally starting CPR - I thought he was dead.
Did he wrestle Punk in the first hour or was it Orton? Honestly I watched the beginnig and then didn't turn it back on until Twitter blew up about them carrying Lawler during a commercial break.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
it was Punk/Ziggler vs Orton and Lawler. It was Ziggler who was mostly doing the work because Punk was talking with Heyman and never got into the action. Lawler collapsed during the Kane/Bryan vs Prime Time Match..Jerry was still talking in the beginning of the match but suddenly it got quite from the commentary....i was trying to see what was happening in the announce table since i was aware of it (411mania) and i saw Michael Cole trying to talk to Lawyer on the floor what it seems...the Montreal crowd was even chanting Lawler's name during that match.

There's a write-up on the front page of www.grantland.com which is really good also.
Re: The Wrestling Thread
I must have fallen asleep right before the Lawler incident happened.
