What was the last movie you've seen?

I highly recommend watching, The Secret of Nimh, Watership Down, The Dark Crystal and The Neverending Story. That era of, "Children's Films," were spectacular, but would never be made in this day and age.

I haven't watched Watership Down yet (soon though), greatly recommend Neverending Story, but I watched that back in the day so maybe nostalgia there (but I think it does stand its own).

No nostalgia on these:
The Secret of Nimh is very good, but I watched Dark Crystal recently and I didn't really think it was that good. Worth a watch I guess. I liked the other Henson movie better, the Labyrinth.

I saw Labyrinth a month or so ago for the first time in probably 20 years. Was a decent enough movie, but man I forgot how terrible it is to watch a movie with someone who's the type of fangirl that just can't shut up. Like every single scene pointing out how this character shouldn't do this, or how it's being completley misinterpreted, or look at how intense the backgrounds are, or this scene almost didn't make the movie, or JUST SHUT UP ALREADY WOMAN! It's like... I know you're excited and it's your favorite movie, but come the hell on!

As for the Dark Crystal, I might suggest trying to find the original cut. Things were changed and added to the theatrical release to help, confused audiences. The Skeksis were not supposed to speak in english, just their own little language with no subtitles and you would just watch the scenes play out, understanding what was going on based on their performances. There are also other scenes added like a swimming scene and some parts were removed like the narrator that constantly pipes up to tell you what is happening.

Someone put it all together on the Internet and it is worth checking out and may be more enjoyable, if not from a storytelling standpoint, at least by a technical standpoint as the puppetry and set pieces are something truly unparallelled.

Those of you who still buy movies on disc, where do you order from? I've had some pretty lousy experiences recently with ordering movies online. I ordered a movie from Foxconnect that came with a sticker stuck on the blu ray insert, impossible to remove without damaging the insert itself. I finally just gave up and ripped the insert in half in frustration.

I ordered The Lego Movie Everything is Awesome edition from Walmart's website recently, and received it in the most god awful looking shipping box I've ever seen and the whole thing had dents and crushing when I took it out of the box. I think the shipping label even said it came from a Returns department. Assholes.

So needless to say I will NEVER order from Foxconnect or Walmart again as they don't give a shit about the quality of product they send to people, and I'm kind of put off to ordering movies online in general right now. Where do you guys get your stuff?

I'm starting to think about just going with ebay. At least there people post pictures of the product they are sending (i.e. no surprises like a sticker on the blu ray insert)and a lot of sellers will ship with good packaging if they've got a good feedback score and want to maintain it. It seems like dealing with companies and corporate entities versus actual human beings is not working out for me anymore.

Labyrinth man...:

David Bowie not in spandex or leather is horrific.

The movie is perfect on every level from script to direction.

The fart swamp, the musical scenes, the creepy hand characters, and even the teenage angst is all awesome.

THEY CAME TOGETHER

I hate using the word, but "meh" describes this film.

There are a very few great moments, mostly by the way of cameos, but every set up for a joke is obvious. And the pay off for those jokes, well, doesn't pay off.

I wouldn't pay to see it.
