Random Gaming Thoughts
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Aren't GOG games just regular PC games with added hacks to get them to work? Why do they deserve their own category on RFGen, doesn't PC suffice?
Same with Steam, really.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
For me on backloggery at least, I like that they're separate. I consider "PC" stuff I have physical copies of or non-client fan games of any type. But it doesn't seem like a bad idea to separate the clients to keep it more organized.o.pwuaioc wrote:Aren't GOG games just regular PC games with added hacks to get them to work? Though personally like I said earlier, I don't catalog my digital collections at all. I just add stuff to backloggery as I beat games but nothing more.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I prefer to keep them separate from my physical PC games. Just a matter of personal preference for me.

I agree with you. This stuff is all PC games, regardless of the delivery format.o.pwuaioc wrote:Aren't GOG games just regular PC games with added hacks to get them to work? Why do they deserve their own category on RFGen, doesn't PC suffice?

PLAY KING'S FIELD.

Or, in the case of most Steam games, DRM restrictions.Exhuminator wrote:I agree with you. Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I'm a total pedant and like how RFGen has them split up.
PC = mostly physical games, with some some downloads not tied to a specific service thrown into the mix.
GOG.com = digital copies of old games modified to work on modern systems.
Steam = requires client, DRM.
Note that there are also separate categories for the Virtual Console, DSiWare, and eShop, even though you could theoretically play all this stuff on a 3DS.
Listing games by service immediately gives me more information about the game. I prefer this to, say, GameFAQs, which has a PS4 listing for Final Fantasy VII. I can't walk into a store and buy a copy of Final Fantasy VII for the PS4 - it's a PlayStation Network game, the PS4 is just one of the consoles that supports the download.

ZX Spectrum games now on Steam:

Hope we continue to see more of these. Pretty much impossible to obtain and play this system in the US.

Repost from the Nintendo handheld thread for more visibility:
I totally forgot this but for DSi owners, today is the final day to add money to the DSiWare store. You have until 5PM PDT. You have until March 31, 2017 to use that cash and download any owned games.
