Thoughts on Games:I use to play this when I was in Primary School and we went across to the public library and they had it on the computer. While it is aimed at kids and for the most part is it obvious what to do, it still has some of those "Sierra" moments that if you grew up playing there games you know how random what you have to do can be.
Was good to play and finish it so many years after I originally played it.

Ok, so I've beaten two games lately. Gamerforlife pretty much summed up my thoughts on Arkham City quite well; it's excellent and well worthy of checking out by any fans of comics or video games. Just about everything was improved in my opinion over Arkham Asylum, and that was no easy task considering how much I enjoyed the first one. Really, do yourself a favor and go play it, if only so you can shout "I'm Batman" any time you do something cool.
And then there's Iron Storm...oh man, this game is brutal. I felt like I was having to fight tooth and nail just to gain an inch. Each level came loaded with snipers, sentry guns, tanks, helicopters, armored bastards with grenade and rocket launchers, all of them perfectly placed to make sure you have a very bad day. I'm proud of myself for beating this one, as it really was a challenge.
It's got some issues though which hurt it. For instance, the final area had a bug where I couldn't press the elevator button to go to the basement, so I ended up having to find an alternate route which led to me taking tank rounds to the face for half an hour before giving up last night. The AI has a strange "out of sight, out of mind" means of reacting to threats, where it won't do a thing if you can't see it. I actually made it through a stealth segment by staring at the ground. Also, spawning enemies behind the player and giving them grenade launchers is mean, I don't care who you are.
The story is why I wanted to check out Iron Storm though. Instead of Germany losing WWI, it manages to crush the Bolshevik Revolution and unite with Russia and East Asia to form a new superpower, leaving Western Europe and the United States to ally together to take it on. The game takes place in 1964, after the war has been going on for 50 years, and both sides are now using the stock market to pay for new equipment, finance battles, and make people rich. The end result? Governments want the war to continue so they can make money. It's an interesting idea, though the game loses the WWI feel after the first level, which is the only one involving trench warfare. The nerve gas grenades make for some pretty nasty stuff though. I wiped out an entire pack of dogs with one...
If you're a hardcore fan of FPS, it's worth checking out Iron Storm for the challenge, but beyond that I'd say it's not really worth seeking out unless you've played the big titles and really want something new.

Fallout New Vegas: Old World Blues DLC Great! Much more challenging enemies than in the previous one. In fact my maxed out character was getting his ass kicked from time to time. The best thing were the weird characters (inspired by Douglas Adams' writing in my opinion). I actually laughed several times during the game. I just wish that the entire thing was longer.
...that's what she said...

Resistance 3 and Uncharted 3 are both excellent. Resistance 3 is probably the best first person shooter I have played this year, and Uncharted 3 - while not quite as good as 2 - is still one of the finest games on the system this year or any other. It is a must play.
I highly recommend all three of these games!

So terribly antiquated, plays like it's underwater and so jagged and laggy. Still, it's cute to see how we all creamed over such cheesy graphics two decades past.

I am a big fan of beat-em ups and this is one of my favorites. It has a cheesy 80's style soundtrack that makes you feel like your fighting as the duo from Miami Vice and the bosses are super hard to beat. The graphics are fun and the game is challenging enough to bring a feeling of satisfaction when you finally beat the last boss.

Hi Mrs. Noiseredux. You seem pretty cool. You want to come hang out and play video games? You can bring your husband if you like, even though we hear he sucks at video games and stuff. I'll be sure to give him something to play with, like a tennis ball or something.

3 more games beaten since my last post.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for Master System was a solid little game, fun in its own way. It had some great levels and some not so great. There were some nice features I would've liked to see in other sonic games, like the ability to skim across waters surface like a stone when rolled into a ball. On the other hand, there were some real frustrations, like mazes which dropped you into spikes if you took the wrong route, which was entirely down to luck, and a few poorly designed levels. It had some interesting quirks too - Green Hills zone was act 4 for example (and had a badass 8 bit rendition of 'you can do anything' from sonic cd as its level theme). Overall, it was a fun enough little game, but it didnt match up to the original SMS game, which I love, nor the mega drive games.
Sam and Max 203 rates as one of my favourites so far, and a real return to form after the good but not great first two episodes of the season. It has a pop at all sorts of things, including nightclubbing, zombie movies, dating, emo culture and product placement, and it made me laugh out loud a good few times. It was also one of the longer ones, taking me over 3 hours to get through. Most of the puzzles were clever but not unfair in design too. I'd say it's probably my second or third favourite, after 105: Reality Bytes and maybe 104: Abe Lincoln Must Die.
Metroid Prime 2 was actually on my summer snickerdoodle list, but I never got around to it, along with Galaxy 2. I've beaten both now though, and they're both great games. Prime 2 started off a bit iffy, and at the start I could understand why it's thought of as the weak link of the trilogy. Things like the constant dark world damage and enemies which were all annoying to fight made it very frustrating and slow paced. The pace never really increased, but the power ups which I got as I progressed really helped fix those early game issues, and made everything a bit less frutrating an experience. By the end,I'd say I enjoyed it almost as much as Prime 1, although I found the dark world mechanic a bit annoying still. Both Prime games so far have had some pacing trouble imo, with backtracking taking a bit too long compared to the 2D games, so I'm hoping Prime 3 might fix this a bit. This slow pacing (which isnt helped by enemies which you're forced to kill to open doors sometimes) and repetitive backtracking hampers the experience a little for me. Still, definitely enjoyed this one, even if I'm not sure it or its predecessor up there in the gamecube top 10 like many people do.

Espgaluda II: Black Label (BL mode) - 360 *new* 2011 TOTAL: 762010 Games BeatenBattlefield 3's single player campaign is both boring and (surprisingly) unimpressive looking. It seemed to have more QTEs than recent God of War or Resident Evil games, and it felt like a major step back from the single player in Bad Company 1 and Bad Company 2. I know the game is multiplayer focused, but that doesn't mean the campaign has to suck.
Espgaluda II is probably my favorite current-gen Cave game I have played (though I suspect the new DDP will replace it eventually), and it is truly a beautiful and mesmerizing bullet-hell game.
