While reading a review for SMTIV:A, I came across this gem:

"The first time I picked up a Shin Megami Tensei game, a flood of emotions swept over me. First there was awe and admiration for Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne’s striking art design. Then, curiosity over the combat system’s many unique takes on RPG tropes. And finally, a shattered controller slick wet with tears as I hate-cried the game out of my Playstation 2. With a difficulty as demonic as its source material, the Shin Megami Tensei series was out of my gaming life forever." - http://www.gamerevolution.com/review/sh ... apocalypse

 God I love SMT: Nocturne.

Yeah, just to add to the insanity the PS2 and PSP versions of Sega Genesis Collection have different unlockables.

PS2:
Altered Beast
Future Spy
Tac/Scan
Zaxxon
Zektor

PSP:
Astro Blaster
Congo Bongo
Eliminator
Space Fury
Super Zaxxon

I have the PSP version.

So I managed to play some Ristar, a game I don't care for at all, to unlock Space Fury. Wow are these vector graphics insanely cool, but the game is hard as hell. I prefer the ColecoVision port (I could say the same about Zaxxon). For my next unlockable I have to play Comix Zone. :? RPGs aside, I think I like classic arcade Sega more than 16-bit Sega. What an odd realization.

Anyways man, it's not that hard. I don't recall putting any effort into unlocking anything on that collection whatsoever. Even getting the platinum is a cakewalk with beating Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine being the hardest task.

You're thinking of Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection playa. Also, I'm terrible at video games and not entirely sure what "platinum" refers to in this context.

You get a Platinum trophy for collecting all other trophies in a given game. It's a sony thing I'm not sure if Microsoft has it's own slang for completing all challenges in a game.

Edit: Just noticed something funny my Atari 2600 collection is now my 6th largest collection of games. It just beat out the playstation, xbox, psp, and is currently tied with my Wii collection at 206  . It's just way to hard to pass up those $1-2 carts and there are so many damn variants :P.

Space Fury!

Just don't play it emulated in the dark. The "leader's" voice is scary enough. It was at last year's IGBY competition, my score was 65,670.

Are we talking collection lengths again? 2600 still rules! In fact, my 2600 collection....

....has been supplanted by my extreme Nintendo focus these past couple of years. Good thing I went there, it turns out I accidentally marked a Gamecube game in my collection as being on the 360 when I don't even have that, whoops!

Okay, according to those collection stats Atari 2600 is the biggest for me.

BUT RFGen tallies NES and Famicom separately. Same goes for SNES and Super Famicom. Lump that shiz all together and NES/Famicom is #1, SNES/Super Famicom is #2, and Atari 2600 is #3.

The tallies are skewed a bit for NES/SNES, as I have some games in both North American and Japanese format. And I didn't bother to count label variants for Atari 2600, just one copy of each game. Still, even taking these factors into consideration the order remains the same.

My next largest sub-collection is................... Steam?!

Speaking of RFGen, anyone know why Android and iOS games aren't in the database? Did they not want to get flooded by submissions from shovelware developers? This is what appears to have happened to GameFAQs.

Steam is still my largest collection which kind of annoys me since I buy next to nothing on there anymore, but I really hit it hard during my college years and it's easy to accumulate a lot there with the sales and indie bundles :P. The PS2 has a firm second place lead since I spent the most time with it when I was younger and I bought a ton of games back when the market was flooded with them. Atari is inching it's way up though keep finding bundles of them around here for cheap and I've even found a few on AWD for cheap recently just picked up superman for $3.50 shipped the other day.

...maybe I should devote some time to making an RF Generation profile and post a nifty bar graph....
