What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I would say Godzilla was a decent film it was entertaining. Just didn't care for the interruptions every fight. The only fight that felt like it had plenty of meat on the bone was the final fight.

Not sure why so much hate on 1998 Godzilla, I thought it was really good too. Entertainment wise at least...

Because it was trying to be a Jurassic Park rip-off instead of a godzilla movieRCBH928 wrote:Not sure why so much hate on 1998 Godzilla, I thought it was really good too. Entertainment wise at least...

I watched Godzilla 2014 yesterday and I really liked it.
And yes the movie spent more of its focus on the human characters, which imo worked better in the first part since it focused on the characters who's lives were directly influenced by the monsters existence/actions. But I wouldn't call it boring like some online reviewers did (I'm looking at you moviebob).
On the other hand it was nice to see the army being powerless to stop any of the kaijus even though they really tried their hardest, unlike in Godzilla 1998 or the crappy Michael bay American Army Movies guest starting the transformers

GODZILLA 2014 is 5% Godzilla. Obvious wigs are really distracting too.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Yup. Replace Zilla with some other random creature and it would have been an okay movie. It just upset a lot of Godzilla fans because that was NOT Godzilla.ZeroAX wrote:Because it was trying to be a Jurassic Park rip-off instead of a godzilla movieRCBH928 wrote:Not sure why so much hate on 1998 Godzilla, I thought it was really good too. Again, most Godzilla movies are like this. I'm not sure why people are so outraged by it. I agree that the interruptions during the fights were a bit annoying. I wanted more fight in the middle, but I think the final fight made up for it myself.Luke wrote:GODZILLA 2014 is 5% Godzilla. Obvious wigs are really distracting too.
Godzilla vs. Biolante is one of my favorite Godzilla movies and usually gets good reviews, but we didn't get a decent fight until the very end. I guess people were expecting another Godzilla Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Not knocking the 5% thing, just letting people know what to expect, as people unfamiliar with the franchise do expect 90% Godzilla.
And if you are going to focus on a family, make it an interesting one.

This is a pretty fair point. I really don't understand why they had the son be the protagonist. The professor and his father were much more interesting characters.Luke wrote: And if you are going to focus on a family, make it an interesting one.

I'm hoping the sequel is King Ghidorah and it consists of the first half of the movie introducing him and having the puny humans try and fail at stopping him, then in the second half they get out of Godzilla's way.Luke wrote:Not knocking the 5% thing, just letting people know what to expect, as people unfamiliar with the franchise do expect 90% Godzilla.
But man, everything that '98 did wrong 2014 did right. He really does look like a more real version of the guy in the suit, and he fought the same way. I am extremely happy with how this turned out.

Luke: Yeah, and that's what I've been getting from a lot of people giving it bad ratings. They seem to think Godzilla should be the focus. I'll completely agree with the family part too. The Father/Son segment was wonderful and drew me into the movie, but the rest was... meh.MrPopo wrote:I'm hoping the sequel is King Ghidorah and it consists of the first half of the movie introducing him and having the puny humans try and fail at stopping him, then in the second half they get out of Godzilla's way.Luke wrote:Not knocking the 5% thing, just letting people know what to expect, as people unfamiliar with the franchise do expect 90% Godzilla.

MrPopo: I'm on board with this. Aliens from Planet X and possibly robots also need to be involved.

Exactly the most interesting human characters seemed pushed aside for some mediocre young family dramaZeroAX wrote:This is a pretty fair point.
