What was the last movie you've seen?

Yep, I just watched Psycho. The original Hitchcock film. I will say that this is was a bold move at the time for Hitchcock but the way the movie is set up, the film is pretty much a one trick pony. The death scene in the middle of movie is great and moves the movie towards a totally different direction with trying to figure out what really happened with her murder. However, that is really all the movie has going for it. While I do think it is a great film, I still say that it is not one of Hitchcock's best overall.

As a connoisseur of all things Hitchcock, I am left virtually speechless by your review.

I saw two movies this weekend:

Hobson's Choice (1954). Romantic comedies do not get any better than this gem, and the inimitable Charles Laughton steals every scene. (I have not seen every film in his lengthy filmography, but I don't think the man ever gave a bad performance.) It is available for streaming on Hulu+, and I recommend it very highly.

The Cincinnati Kid (1965). The first half of this film is a pale imitation of The Hustler. The second half is one long, incredibly intense poker game featuring Steve McQueen(!), Edward G. Robinson(!), Karl Malden(!), and Cab Calloway(!). Each member of the film's superb cast gives an inspired performance in the second half of the film; so while it is a bit uneven, it ends up being the very best "poker" film. (Roundersis three of a kind at best. This film is more like a full house.) Finally, Edward G. Robinson delivers one of his best lines in this film, and it worth watching just to hear him deliver it:

You're good, kid, but as long as I'm around, you're only second best.

Yeah. I don't pretend to know how any of it works (economics, politics, etc.), so I don't really take any of it seriously. That said, Mr. Reich had very pretty graphs, and very large numbers.

EDIT: That said, the trickle-down effect is just silly, and making fun of rednecks is fun! (I come from a family of self-proclaimed rednecks, and there's a lot of self-deprecation all around, it's great )

Man, I haven't watched Bad Boys in a long time. I remember liking it though. Does it age well?

I think it does. It and the sequel have been making their rounds on HBO for the last couple months and I would say they hold up pretty well. Especially considering its Martin Lawrence in a non-family oriented role.
