For the first time, I'm going to approach Chrono Trigger. I know, I know, shocking and appalling. But I just got a sweet forum hookup on it, so now is the time

One of my friends from college was real big into JRPGs; she loved FFVI and VII as well as SoM and some other PSX era ones. A couple years ago I found out she hadn't played Chrono Trigger. I had to command her to drop everything and play, and she loved every minute.

I still haven't played Choro Trigger, despite the fact that I've owned the cart for years. Say what you want, but you have to respect this: I don't ever wanna force myself to play a game. I'm not gonna fire it up hastily just because every one says it's an amazing game. When I'm in the right mood, I'll play it. And I know I'll enjoy the hell out of it. But until then...

Got lucky at the flea market today since this stuff shows up maybe a couple times a year, but $5/ea and got 4 games, 3 were snes and 1 gba. The two best were Contra 3 and DKC2. I've cleaned them up and pushed into stage 3 on contra and just tested DKC2 out. Very happy to have these again. I sacrificed both of them to get my Pinbot pinball machine a month ago, so it was like some weird trip just seeing them again so soon. The other two, I'll get rid of them so I break even. :D

I forgot how much I enjoyed the overhead stages in Contra 3, they're just fun. Good use of the L and R buttons to pivot the whole screen around to move around the stage. I forgot the boss on that one could leap and squash, got me the first time but that was it. I felt bad getting rid of this one much more than the other so it's a happy thing it is back.

The boss on the second overhead stage 5 will take nearly all your lives on Normal and Hard. Of course, there's the journey to it too with those crazy sand spinners.

The right mood is "I want to play a JRPG I haven't played yet". No other qualifier is necessary for it.

Exactly. But I can't jump into a game if I'm not in the mood for that type of game. Especially RPGs.

In all seriousness, Chrono Trigger is one of the most fast-paced and streamlined JRPGs you'll ever encounter. You don't need to prep yourself for some giant grindy slogfest. You'll blast through the game in a week.

Screw it, it is a rainy day today, I have had Chrono trigger for years but never finished, but today I am going to start it and finish it for the summer gaming challenge. Going to complete Super Metroid and Mega Man X as well, it needs to be done. Going to shower up make some coffee and start her up.

Found my Space Megaforce cart recently so I've been playing that. I really love this game. Compile did some real good shmups in their day. Addicting music, interesting weapon upgrade mechanics and fairly long levels.

First time I played this back in the day, I played for 5 hours straight and it felt like 30 minutes. I'll never forget flipping the TV to the old Prevue Channel and seeing "3:06 AM" on the scroll thing and being like, "...how is that possible?!?"
