EDIT: After a night of playing, I can make it to stage 3 consistently, and can make it through stage 1 taking no damage. At first I was worried because it felt really tough, but it's the kind of game where I feel myself continually making progress which is always a reassuring feeling. Keeps you motivated to keep playing.
For sure - you will def. make progress in this game. Stage 3 is tough at first...get used to how to use your options on the worms - then you'll start coasting through.

Stage 2...again, almost every "planet" has an option inside of it - so use your side options to destroy the planet, get the kill points, and then go reclaim the new option.

Think of the options sorta like your dragon in dragon blaze - use it to get a shot at tough enemy.

You can shoot an option once and he'll come back, smaller, and circling around you, shoot him again and he's gone forever.

You can have up to (4) options at any given time (iirc) so that means basically (8) power shots...factor in how many options are available beginning on stage 2 and beyond...use them often.

pretty quiet. Y'all playing Salamander 2 or what? By far the best of the 3 games we've played this month.

I played a bit yesterday, probably more tomorrow. I still think I like Strikers 1999 better, but not by much. Don't love any of them yet, and I now have a least favorite Toaplan game :?

Strikers 1999 sucked.
V-V sucked more.

At least I can make progress in Salamander 2.

LOL, you all are turning into shmups forum fast.

Salamander 2 is ok, but it really feels like a Gradius game for people that are not good enough for Gradius.

V-V is excellent. Best Toaplan shooter.

Ill put V-V aside and play some more S2 tonight. Made it to stage 5 in 2 creds, so should be able to submit something half-decent.

I did a few plays, I'll have time this weekend. I don't plan on having a great score. I wasted so much time trying to see if I can kill the golem at the beginning of Stage 1. It's a lost cause.

I can't NOT kill the golem in a scoring competition though, he is worth too much.

Gotta love pure luck coming into play. Oh cool, a speedup instead of a 2nd option, even though I didn't pick up the Lazer yet.

Why make such ridiculous scoring tricks in such an easy game?? Its Batsugun all over again. If you want me to play stage 1 500 times, please make it at least semi-interesting.

playing Galuda like shit tonight. Hit 3.5M last night. Can't hit 3M tonight. The more I understand the score, the worse I'm doing. :\ But at least it's a great game and a lot of fun to play.

That strategy we discussed not working out for you?

it is and it's not. It's what I figured out last night actually to hit 3.5M. I hit 3.9M tonight though. The problem is that I'm getting good at getting the metals, but I'm playing too aggressive or something now. I'm trying so hard for score that I'm getting killed stupid. Though I've gotten to a point where I can breeze through stage 1, and most of the time even stage 2 only to have the 2nd boss take two of my lives. Which sucks because there's much score to be had in stage 3 it seems. I think if I can master St2 boss I'll be good.
