A rewinder is less about speed, and more about minimizing wear and tear on the VCR (and possibly the tape).darsparx wrote:Man now i'm wishing we still had the rewinder I had as a kid(at least that's what that appeared to be). I forgot how painfully slow rewinding a tape is, and having one would speed up the process whenever I do decide to watch any of the other 40 or so titles I have(and really just don't want to get the dvd/digital version for quite awhile since I've seen those occasionally and don't see the handrawn stuff I used to see in movies with those since they're "remastered"). I don't know why but "remaster"ing always makes me cringe because I can imagine the edits they've probably done to it now that I'm older
Well from all I've seen of some remasters(especially of older disney movies) they seem to of removed some of the stuff that really made it seem like the film was hand-drawn at one point when going from vhs to dvd. I think I've even seen that in the one for jungle book(which is the movie I started earlier but haven't finished yet and will probably restart a tomorrow and finish).isiolia wrote:A rewinder is less about speed, and more about minimizing wear and tear on the VCR (and possibly the tape).
Remastering is usually a good thing. It doesn't automatically imply a new edit of the film. It just means they went back to the source material to create a new "master" copy. Usually, an objectively better one. For a film source, for instance, a modern remaster would mean scanning each frame of the film in at high resolution and cleaning up dust, restoring color (since film fades over time), and so on.
A Blu-ray done without an HD master available won't look that good, or at least, as good as it could.
Not to say that the end result is always better. Sometimes things are too filtered, color is off, whatever. More often though, it's an essential part of having classic movies available and looking good.

How does he come out as a transgender? Isn't it obvious? Or do you mean he was thought a guy but was a girl all along?BogusMeatFactory wrote:About a year ago, a friend from high school recently came out as being transgendered to his friends and family. Where do you get a bootleg that is even better than the original!?fastbilly1 wrote:Never released on VHS or DVD in the USA, but in Europe:SirGawain wrote:supposedly never on VHS, much less dvd. How they got it I dont know. They weren't bootleg and looked mass produced.
Granted it was most likely a bootleg you saw. Bootleggers have gotten DVD replication down to an art. Some bootleg DVDs I have bought were better than retail releases. In not only artwork, but features.
My partner is also transgender. AppleQueso said it was about 0.3% of US population but it has to be much higher. A lot of people are also genderqueer, which I consider myself.BogusMeatFactory wrote:Hey, I never new Racketboy's community had so many transgendered people! Often it's a case of announcing your intentions to transition, laying stuff out to friends, family, acquaintances, employer (if necessary) exactly what's happening w/ medical interventions and whatnot, what new name and pronouns to start using, etc etc.RCBH928 wrote:How does he come out as a transgender?
