I'm always on the hunt for games that do not have a US release. Bought the exclusive PAL games from Demented Collector a while back. Finally got around to converting the games to NTSC. :D

PAL Bomberman Hardball
Actually there are three Sports games included; Baseball, Golf and Tennis. These all play similar to Hot Shots or the Mario Sports Series. Not great, but not bad either. Also included is traditional Bomberman levels! As far reaching as Bomberman is on consoles and portables, it is strange that the US PS2 never received a regular Bomberman. This title is a very nice PS2 exclusive.

PAL They Came From The Skies
A behind the view chase and shoot down the flying saucers. Rudimentary, but unique due to flying 60s era jets and eventually piloting the Flying Saucer.

No problems playing the PAL games on my US NTSC.

Metroid Trilogy - $59.99 $53.99 Gamestop
Cheaper then the insane online prices, found a pristine complete copy at a recently opened Gamestop. The discount is due to the Power Rewards Card. One thing I have been discovering in fresh newly opened Gamestop stores are that 90% of the games are pristine and complete. A double edged sword though, most of the games have the refurbish sticker on them, a sign of the disc getting polished.

I did not buy this game right away since I already bought one last year at PlaynTrade. However, the OCD collector in me demanded a second backup copy. I went nuts the rest of the day thinking about that pristine Metroid Trilogy. The store that had it in stock was open less then a month. Turned out the Trilogy disc did not have that R tag so I bought it.

Even though this cost a little more then my PlaynTrade Metroid Trilogy purchase, its still less then twenty bucks per Metroid in the Trilogy. Justified since a Selects version (which Wii Metroid 1 and 2 will never see) averages twenty bucks each.

Lightening does strike twice, as in my previous purchase the game is absolutely pristine as if a repackaged used from new. The manuals are crisp and no fingerprints. Heck, the pages were even stuck together slightly at the edges from when they were printed and cut at the printing press. Even the Club Nintendo Flyer and the Metroid Trilogy brochure advertising other games are inside. This leads to a couple of possibilities.

1. The game might be used, a previous owner never played it or even opened the art book or manual traded it in. This is unlikely considering how much more its worth online. A collector going to that much trouble in keeping it pristine certainly would not sell it for so cheap as a Gamestop buy back.

2. The game might be brand new? The seal was broken and the game got retagged as new. This makes sense since GAMESTOP ONLY SELLS METROID TRILOGY AS USED. This has happened before, I have bought Kirby Epic Yarn and Skycrawlers Innocent Aces, both which are only sold as used. In the case of Kirby the game was still sealed, yet sold as used! The strangest thing is the site shows the game can be bought as new, but only as an online order. Store availability shows Epic Yarn only as used, forcing local store to sell all copies as used.

Even though Gamestop online order is not available, one can still transfer Metroid Trilogy in from another store location. I have done this numerous times myself getting $2.00 games transferred all the way across the country. So is it worth the trouble? For the local Retail Price compared to Online Prices, YES! As for gameplay of the Gamecube to Wii remakes compared to just the standalone Corruption 3 value? I posted an in depth review back in my Wii Thread some time ago.

I had a pretty good week for game finds, and I will update my "games acquired post later tonight...but the deal of the week was:

The Last Blade 2 (DC; CIB) - $19

I have never played it before, but I have heard that it is pretty good...

This my friend is an excellent find. If you put in the time you will be rewarded. If you have friends and 2 agesticks then you are golden,

I rate this up there with SF3 and Garou. Seriously that good.

Only thing better would be MVS / AES

Hello, again, fellow gamers! I wanted to tell you about a great acquisition I recently scored!

A local Game Stop is closing. I know a worker there (my son's roommate) who let me know they were throwing out some Nintendo Wii Interactive Standee's. The horror! They are 7-8 feet tall, made of metal and are HEAVY! It took two trips from Avon to Vermilion (30 miles each way) and help from two different strong guys to get them into my HHR, but they are now in my garage. We will make one good one from the two, with lighting and all, and mount our 40" tv to it and install a Wii and a Game Cube under the front lighted panel. The other one, we will take the top part and mount it on the wall elsewhere in the house, like a beer sign.

I was so excited with these. I also went dumpster diving at another Game Stop along the way. I scored many cases and sleeved games to match! It was a banner weekend. Until next time, Mrs WClem.

someone traded it into the store i work at, and someone else priced it out not knowing what it really was. when stuff like that happens, i always tell my boss and he usually reprices accordingly. i did it this time, but told him i'd been looking for this one, so he sold it to me anyway. honesty is the best policy i guess :)

there was a copy of shining the holy ark in similar condition priced out at $45, but i already have that one so i was less interested.

i should also mention i got a 10% employee discount on it as well, so it ended up being about $20
