What was the last movie you've seen?

I just watched Riki-Oh on Netflix.

I'm not really sure what to make of it. It was just so absurdly violent and ridiculous that I can't quite make out if it's one of those, "It's so bad, it's good" kinda movies.

It's a movie that stuck TOO close to the source material. It seems much more at home in the Manga. But the movie has plenty of "wooooooow" moments.

Riki-Oh is amazing. It's pretty much a manga brought to life with the spirit of early Peter Jackson films.

Yeah, I was definitely like, "holy shit!!!" at numerous scenes of the movie.

You said it was also a manga? I might have to check it out.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

Heavy spoilers.
What a jumbled pile of mess. You have REALLY got to love Spider-man to sit through this movie.

The story is a mess, the cgi is a mess, the action is a mess, the characters are a mess...I have no clue what they were shooting for. It's not terrible by any means, but it isn't good, by any means. It's just kind of 'there' which isn't something a movie aims for.

BUT! The last twenty minutes are where the film holds all of its stock. Gwen dies, cliffhanger, roll credits. Why? Because the movie knows, it fucking knows it's no good so they cram some great stuff in the end to tease a trilogy. This movie fails because it tries to appeal to everyone, but doesn't know who everyone is. The jokes aren't clever, the action sequences are sloppy, but the emotion does shine from time to time.

People will call Peter a "wuss" or a "sissy", but I have his fictional back. His love died. And yes, he cries a lot and spends a lot of time "kicking rocks", but at least the production team is consistent. In this world, Peter is a bit of a whiner, and that's okay.

It's a two star movie at best as it drags (forever), doesn't make a lick of sense, and isn't enjoyable. But! I do have good news...hopefully...
GODZILLA TRAILER

This looks good. Almost too good.

From the earlier trailer my brother and I were trying to figure out if it was Rodan or Mothra.

Duder:
It could be Rodan. I really can't tell from the trailer I saw, but oh dear GOD did it make me go from "eh" to "WHOA!".

Super Monster fight? Yes. Please. Yes please with a cherry on top sprinkled with gummy worms.

I am WAY over thinking this (it's easy for me to do) but if there is a social commentary in this film like the original, I will eat this up with a spoon. I mean, so far (too early to judge) I expect a Monster movie that actually down plays the disaster porn. How different would that be?

Godzilla's shoes are without a shadow of a doubt huge to fill, but I'm hearing nothing but good stuff so far. If somehow the production team pulls this movie out to be good (not great) it'll be a HUGE success.

I hope this movie blows people out of the water.

The original Day the Earth Stood Still. It had been a solid 20 years since I watched it last and it is just amazing. The care for detail, like Gort's actor being over seven feet tall and given lifts so he towers over everyone by atleast two feet, and his costume was made in few parts so it looked seamless. It is a bit heavy on Atomic Paranoia, but it was made in the 50s.
