Video Game "Look what I found"

When this thread was about "finds" stupid people posted pictures of retail purchases at MSRP, common easy to find stuff for more than they should have paid for it, and fucking printers. There was much arguing about what constituted a "find" and so this newest title (which is meant to be VERY broad) was the end result.
We've tried a few "best finds" threads but they fail miserably becasue they get infested with the same bullshit. So we're stuck with this.

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
On the topic of what a "find" is, as long as it's video game related and not a current game at retail price I suppose it should be okay. Still, in light of the fact that apparently people tend to post EVERYTHING they buy (probably a little guilty of that myself lately) I'll trim the fat and just mention the highlights.
Did some thrifting today. It was an unusually good day for finding games. I got a lot of stuff and turned down some decent stuff that wasn't quite "good deal" worthy. I found a Gamecube with all hook-ups (no controllers) & GB Player for $10. It's always a gamble to buy disk-based systems from a thrift store but it works beautifully. I also found a Sears Tele-Games system for $17. I jumped on this. I have 2 that don't work and this one does. It's a bit finicky as the games don't load up without turning it on and off a few times but I think it just needs some cleaning. Most of the stuff I found will require cleaning but I can get it all looking pretty good without too much hassle.
Also picked up some boxed NES games from a comic book store of all places-
Bass Fishing $6 (thrift store find)
Double Dribble w/manual $3
Family Feud w/manual $5 (also has Adams Family manual in box)
No matter how sh*tty the game is, it's hard to turn down boxed NES games for less than $10. I spent $65 and got all the stuff below.

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
NICE FIND! That is ugly corroded beautiful! The round corners are indicators of the Sears version of the Heavy Sixer. Maybe tear it down and give a proper clean, hit the cart slot contact as well? That rarity needs preserved, congrats on the find.J_Wil wrote:I also found a Sears Tele-Games system for $17. I jumped on this. I have 2 that don't work and this one does. Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
Thanks. I haven't opened it up to clean the inside but the outside looks so good after a good q-tip & cotton pad scrubbing. Looks almost as good as new. It brings a tear to my eye to know that people let their game systems get all sh*tty looking when they could sparkle with a little care. I'll tell ya, finding this really made my day. I have 2 of the Sears "Heavy Sixers" that have never worked properly. I had my eye out for a 2600 of any sort but lucked out in getting another Sears model that actually works and for cheap.CRTGAMER wrote: NICE FIND! That is ugly corroded beautiful! Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
An amazing Video game hunting journey that led me to SoCal Regionals, one of the biggest fighting game tournaments in the US. Just went to browse the various booths for some deals as well as having a few solid matches. Scored
-A Set of six Sanwa Silent push bottons for $3 a pop (these things are amazing)
-A few more arcade parts (Balltop, Washers etc.)
-Scored a Beautiful KOF XIII promo arcade poster for free for my purchases.
Hit up a few stores along the way after leaving the event and came up on some NGPC goodies
-Crush Roller (US) No case
but with original manual in prefect shape
$8
-Card Fighter Clash SNK Ver (CIB) $8
-Card Fighter Clash Capcom Ver (CIB) $10
-Def Jam Fight for NY (Xbox CIB) $5
-Guncon 2 (used) $3
-Gekido (CIB) $6
-Mat Hoffman BMX (DC CIB) $3
-Tetris 4D (DC Import CIB) $12
-Pop n' Music (DC Import CIB) $15
There was some other goods I wanted get SO badly but I was watching my wallet.
"Sigh" I'm so exhausted.

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
Very nice, really came out clean! You can clean the cart slot in the 2600 with a piece of cardbard dampened with alcohol. Blow out with a can of air. Be sure to let fully dry before plugging back in.c0wb0y wrote:That looks fantastic! Congrats on the WORKING and now CLEAN find.J_Wil wrote:Thanks.
