Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
ah yeah, same version then. I hate to say this but after playing it in its HD glory, I couldn't go back to the Saturn visuals.

That's why I'm going to wait until I get it for Saturn eventually before I touch my Steam copy of it.noiseredux wrote:ah yeah, same version then. I hate to say this but after playing it in its HD glory, I couldn't go back to the Saturn visuals.

Broke 200 Atari 2600 games in my collection yesterday. The amazing game that gets to mark that is... Championship Soccer
. Seems like all I bump into anymore are boat loads of Activision games.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
At first I thought you meant that you literally destroyed 200 Atari games.

That would take a bit of effort those carts will probably be around in 100 years. Hell bury them underground for a few decades under a few tons of garbage and they'll still run
. They will easily outlive the majority of the games that have come since. They are like the cockroaches of the gaming world
.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Why is it that the Atari stuff is like the Incredible Hulk while Xbox 360 consoles break like Glass Joe? Went through three, seldom played and tenderly cared for systems. The worse of which was sending back my Star War Edition for repair to have them return it with a "REFURB" sticker on it. Which they carefully placed at a 45 degree angle on the back. They could not even put the label on straight. As a real nice addition they did add awesome scuff marks all over it.Fragems wrote:That would take a bit of effort those carts will probably be around in 100 years. Thanks Microsoft, looking forward to your 100% backwards compatibility soon too LOL!!
On a side note, both of my 60 gig, fully backwards compatible PS3's work like a charm!

Really the older cartridge based systems hold up better because they don't have as many moving parts. That's the big issue with most of the later systems is the disc drives, harddrives, and cooling systems going out.
The Atari 2600 games are the sturdiest because they have a hard plastic shell and many have a retractable shield over their contacts.

If you want Saturn NiGHTS or Christmas NiGHTS, make sure to try for the US releases. They implemented some performance improvements to the engine for the US versions.

1984 C64 game now on Steam:
btw anyone know what the oldest game available on Steam is? Not counting those contained within Atari Vault I'd guess it's Cosmic Cavern 3671 (1980).
