@CRT if you're looking for cheap good eats then Aldi is the place to go. Freaking love that place. Word of warning though: bring your own bags! I've had their store brands compared to national stuff and I can't tell the difference. They're also getting to the point that if you want to eat healthy and shop there it's getting closer to being a possibility..

So true there are no plastic bags, just the store issue bags. A long counter to bag your own by the exit. Got a free Aldi bag since I got a previst last week, sampling their various foods. The store is about about the size of a small Vons store; lots of good stuff inside. We were there for the Grand Opening last Sunday (got two more bags) and were just short of the forty dollar purchase to get the ten dollar off on the coupon. Wife ran back grabbed some Salmon (the perfect fish along with Catfish) and Mahi Mahi fillets to make the discount. The fish were basically free and the cashier handed us three more ten dollar off coupons good for the next couple of months!

I have an Aldi "Costco sized" Pizza in the oven as I type this.

EDIT
Pizza done, wow very very tasty! A side dish of Spicy Kimchi (from Asian store) and a large glass of Captain Morgans Spice Rum with coke adds to the palate.

That I've never seen(considering I've been too broke to even go there because of my work injury). But the amount of food you can get in that place for $30 let alone $40-50 is impressive. I'm sure at this point if I was living on my own I would be shopping there exclusively. I work at HT but Aldi makes us look like Trader Joes(which yes is the same company as aldi last i checked) or whole foods. Not sure you can really go wrong shopping there considering they're really trying to make it a trader joes for the poor folk now...

Trader Joes is quite reasonably priced; about what I pay at the Safeway. Every time I go there I'm shocked by how little I'm spending compared to what I'm expecting based on the nature of the food.

When your income is like mine(when I was working normally more than i am now) even that seems too expensive. I could spend the same amount people spend at Joe's and likely get 3-4 times the food. Not to mention Joe's is a aldi brand last i checked so it's probably near the same quality stuff no matter which you go to anyways.

I tried Trader Joe's Two buck Chuck wine, meh. That said, both Joes and Aldi have good brands of their own worth trying. Neat finding out they are both the same franchise. Oh, I will definitely buy the Aldi pizza again; gotta try all the flavors.

For desert tonight, I backed up the Pizza Pie in the oven with a Mrs Smith steaming hot Apple Pie and vanilla ice cream. Justified since the oven was already tuned on. Diet went out the window today! :D

I don't take foodie pictures, just post google images! Prefer crust top Apple pie vs crumb top.

If it really was still $2 for that wine, it's not that bad. But last I checked it's like $6.

Most of them I have seen are at $2.95 a bottle, $6 is a bit nuts for that swish. I am sophisticated and stay in the $10-15 a bottle range. Then again I buy Gin in a bottle that just says Gin.

Eating currently - black pepper turkey and cheese sandwich with bread made with Tony Chachere's with some Inglehoffer mustard.

Trying to go super lean for breakfast and dinner, due to the holiday meals this week. So dinner is spinach salad, breakfast is banana.
