Yes, yes it was. Best use of claw hammers in a film I've ever seen. That movie hit exactly what it needed to hit.
For me it transitioned directly out of The Raid quite well, keeping that feeling of paranoia and the burning drive simply to live through the ordeal up until Rama gets out of prison, and from there the fighting ramped up how cruel and vicious it was all supposed to be. It's cruel before that, sure, but in the bathroom fight he doesn't break people quite like he starts to in the yard fight. And by the time he's in the porn studio, he's practically a sadist the way folks like hammer girl and baseball bat man are. Excellent choreography to show that change. Absolutely excellent.

That was a really horrible trailer. The first 30 seconds is about how a guy decided to make a movie. Followed by about 20 shots of women, all shot pretty much the same way, saying vague things like "it's about the world... and me". Then, as if they knew you were bored by these 20 shots of women who all look the same, they tossed in some shots of the grand canyon and giant moon. And actually had the voiceover guy (and they were very excited that they got a real trailer voiceover guy) tell us how beautiful the movie is going to be. It played more like a resume than a trailer.

That's why it's so funny. Screen voice tells us about "Incredible Cinematography" while showing the same shot over and over. "And a story", without telling anything about the story.

I swear this is a movie about a guy who wants to talk to women anyway he can, even if it means making a movie pretending to like their blogs.

Which is hilarious.

It's even more hilarious if the guy is serious about this film. If he isn't self aware enough to know that it looks terrible, then oh boy.

Watched Event Horizon on Blu Ray last night. First time I've seen it in 15 years. Still holds up as a creepy space isolation thriller. Basically a haunted house film in space. One of Anderson's best too bad it was a flop.
They have escaped into the mansion where they thought it was safe, yet.

So it's basically like Sherman's March then?

I am surprised about how good the movie 'Lucy' looks. When I heard the premise before seeing the trailer I was skeptical (especially at Johansson pulling it off as lead), but man the trailers do a good job of setting up intrigue and showing off some cool effects.

I think I'ma see it first week now.

The Raid 2 magically showed up at Buffalo-area Regal theaters for a limited time. I went and saw it upon discovering that fact, immediately.
I was not let down... excellent martial arts hyper-violence. Way more over the top than the first, which was to be expected. This franchise (Merantau included) and the showcasing of pencak silat's style is quickly rising into my favorite martial arts franchise of all-time... which is pretty hallowed ground to begin with.

Essential viewing for any martial arts/violent action movie fans. Re-check your local listsings, because if Buffalo got it, I have to believe most other areas did!

Arang.

Officially a Korean suspense. But if you watch it, you will know right away its a horror movie. Much like the grudge.

Wow. Winter soldier really shook things up. Also, I'm glad that the marvel "cinematic" universe effects the tv show but not vice versa.
