New Skeletonwitch? Hmm.
So, just a quick question, how many bands are in your repertoire? I was talking to a friend about this today- he has about 35 albums, spread over about six bands. I like that he is dedicated to those bands, its not something you see too often.

I own every studio album from Death, Bolt Thrower, Sigh*, Morbid Angel**, and Devin Townsend***. I'm shooting for a complete Napalm Death set, I'm about halfway there (they have a LOT of albums). There are several other bands I own 4-8 albums from each, usually making up the bulk of their "peak era" or just trying to nab all the "essential" releases or something along those lines. Lots of bands in that category, but the big ones for me are Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Slayer.Forlorn Drifter wrote:New Skeletonwitch? Hmm.

My listening/buying habits in general frequently involve exploring one or two bands at a time. If a band's discography is especially solid, I'll just shoot for all of the studio releases. I might not be able to name every obscure bay area thrash band, but I could certainly tell you all about why Inside The Torn Apart is a really underrated album.
Generally speaking, I don't buy live albums or compilations often, but I do make exceptions.
Been wanting to get more into Sabbat (Jpn). I own a few albums, and all of them are really solid and I dig their vibe. They might be another one to shoot for a complete (studio) discography of.
*Okay my copy of Infidel Art is a bootleg, but that album is out of print and the original label is uncooperative when it comes to re-releases, so I'm still waiting until I find a legit copy for a reasonable price.
**I decided NOT to buy Illud Divinum Insanus because it's a wild level of awful.
***Including all 5 SYL albums and his two ambient releases. I don't have the Vai album he sang on and I don't have the Punky Bruster album... yet.

Re: Metal Heads Assemble!!
I own every Alcest and Jesu studio album - except for the latest Jesu album and some of their rarer shit.
Not metal, but I own most every Swans studio release (mostly re-issues) except for their out-of-print 90s albums (most of the decent songs were later released on compilations, which I do have) and their last studio album and live album.
I'm slowly trying to collect the "classic" albums by great 90s doom bands like Anathema, Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Katatonia... not interested in their newer stuff.
I listen to tons of metal bands, but there's really only a small handful of bands whose music I actually "collect."
Things were easier back when I was more into hardcore punk and I could find a single discography CD for any given band.

Yes, and their new album is surprisingly good. Most of those older 90s bands haven't been putting out great stuff lately, but Deftones is the exception.Sasha_Blue wrote:Deftones are still around?
