2D wise you may be right as they did some impressive work with what almost looks like Voxel work in the fight scenes mixed with sprites and scaling effects, otherwise appears fairly SNES like.

I actually ignored a couple of CIB Golden Sun 1 and 2 games at HPB today, jerks wanted $40 each. I had my phone open and could have snapped up both for around $25-27 shipped each in the same complete shape. I really wish they'd stop finding the highest paid nitwit and/or amazon sucker values for certain things. I've been wanting to do GS1 again but for that price not a chance, it falls long down the list under other stuff. :(

On topic I've never finished Fusion or Zero Mission exactly. Fusion I quit on as I got fed up with the wonky damage ratios. Zero Mission I just wanted to take down Mother Brain, I was satisfied, never bothered with that back part. The thing is I have a huge love hate with the series. I loathe and detest timed games, especially ones that forces you to do something or you're punished in some form. Metroid has done this since day one with the don't enjoy it, run for it like time cut offs to get the better endings, yet I've tolerated it as I enjoy the experience. I've made the exception with the series to say screw you guys, it's at MY pace. I couldn't even imagine taking down Super Metroid probably in under 10 hours and that's a rough guess as it has been 20 years.

I never was fast in it, even using the free guide (I still have) from Nintendo. I like to see things, find stuff, experience it, not feel in a rotten panic to finish or suffer for it as that's no fun in any environment to me. Also I never did master the timing on the bomb jump, I can pull it off eventually but nothing like those speed run crazies who can hit it 100% of the time even doing diagonals and other oddball crap -- or in zero mission abusing(or not?) the speed booster to rail through multiple screens/doors up and down stuff even as a ball to cut into areas far earlier or easier -- I don't even remember really being all that good at however that wall jump shit works either.

I've never gotten anywhere higher than the high jump boots would do unless I had some item that allowed for a spin or a double jump It's crazy what some people do, imagine only how many hours of time they have free in their life to master that crap as even in the day as a kid I could figure out a lot but even stuff like that around family/homework I wouldn't get away with it. (This is a reaction to that speed run earlier in 52 clocked minutes and others comments in here.) Me getting a 100% item run? Hah. I'd probably break a lot of shit raging out over the last 5-10% of it as it's so oddly/badly set for perfectionists.

I feel like I need to explain supply and demand again.

No you don't, it wouldn't do a damn bit of good. You have your stories, and I have sales data to back up the fact they're asking too much so why bother? Neither of us are going to agree so it's wasted time in both directions.

If someone can actively buy it for $10 less, why over pay just being lazy? Someone will though because they are stupid and lazy, I'm just not their chump, nor are anyone else in about a week now it has been sitting there too since they date the stickers it goes for sale. They've had a Robo Aleste (among other Sega Genesis/SCD games) in there for like 6 months now started at $200, now at $100 and even with coupons it still hasn't moved so they're not exactly quick or willing to budge on stuff and it's a pattern at that particular 1 of 2 of them in town here.

Clearly they're not gauging supply and demand well for this particular area and since weeks ago HPB went fully 100% online for sales, maybe they'd be better off pulling a shopgoodwill.com stunt and just shove it up there and be done with it. It would be far easier and faster to get a mark with a loaded paypal account to get an itchy trigger finger with their mouse you know?

Yeah if these sellers are going to charge eBay prices, they might as well sell it on eBay. I mean if I walk in your store and I see the same prices I see on the internet, why the hell should I walk in your store? Hence I don't. I do 99% of my game shopping online. And have done so since 2001. No regrets.

How the supply/demand curve works for me:
I will supply you with cold, hard cash for cool games... unless you demand a crazy price, in which case I just walk away.

Kidding aside, I get supply and demand. But there are a glut of other games out there just waiting to get played, including a whole bunch of games on my shelves at home... so it's not hard to look past overpriced stuff.

Sellers today often think their games are worth more than they actually are, and setting prices based on Amazon/eBay listings does nothing to help that.

That was my entire point and because of a light bit of smarmy snark over supply and demand, which has nothing to do with the local economy much, got that response. Maybe where you (whoever you are) $40 or even $50 would look reasonable and it would rapidly sell. Think of it like this. Live here, you can fill a shopping cart for $200 for 2 weeks of groceries, that same $200 will get you a few days at best in New York City. Both places have access to the internet, but people buy local, they pay local prices, and yet some will just say screw it and do it too (or they don't think, research, or care.) Around here when something is priced local it'll be gone pretty quickly, but when stuff is priced in the 51-100% of the sold price values of something online for a niche good, it will sit anywhere from weeks to months or longer. I'm still looking at some games at a few places that have rotted for about 2 years by now (stickers have dates) at some stores. That's why I make such comments.

It's like the arguments we used to see online of people bitching about the pricing on flash kits years back for GBA and DS. They used to be fairly expensive, people who lived in areas where used games (and new) cost more they'd buy up more of those kits, while areas who had lower prices and cheap ass quality bootlegs wouldn't touch a kit as much. Same general concept.

ejamer -- exactly which is what they do, I asked them before and do ever so often to see if things change. What usually happens at the half price books is, they don't learn, they never do. So when the 30-50% off coupons arrive, the key moment is to be there when it opens the Sunday before the 50% off coupon as they'll hold for 7 days. Put anything you want on hold, buy it a week later. Their shelf gets overloaded into boxes when that happens, yet they don't learn. Even worse is the stuff that rides through the 50% off coupon and still sits. Not just Robo Aleste for 6mo now they've had the original Star Wars hardback Han Solo Trilogy book on the shelf for $200, even at the 50% off coupon it didn't sell, and now within the last couple weeks, they cut the price to $100, still there. I imagine the first holiday it hits 20-30% off it'll go given ebay paid rates. It's a poor business model to charge that much you sit on stuff even through a 1/2 off coupon.

So, colored Metroid 2 actually looks awesome. I've never tried it that way. If I really want to call myself a fanboy I think I need to tackle this one.

This topic went everywhere (I started most of the offshoots haha), so... did anyone besides me, Sarge, and Popo actually beat AM2R yet?
