Loving Bikes right now more than Karts, but its really all preference, although i like my speed to always be the highest stat.

I was gonna say... where's Birdo!? Why is there pink gold daisy (or whatever that mutant is called) but no Birdo?

So who else has a love/hate relationship with MKTV? Unless I'm missing something, you really don't have full control over it. Is that a fact? I like that it's there, but I wish editing them was more intuitive. Any one remember the editor for Driv3r replays? I still have some saved on my memory card, and they'll still make me laugh to this day.

I tended to be all over the place to get the gold in the different courses and can say that, when playing solo grand prix, any will do. When playing in Time Trials, speed is the most important and playing on-line that would be the same. There are a lot of instances when playing on-line with other racketboy members that if you stick with a responsive, slower car, you will never catch up to the faster racers. You can get some good car layouts that won't sacrifice handling, but keep your speed still high, so it will take some work to figure out what works best for you.

As for karts over bikes, I can't stand the handling of the bikes, but that is very much personal preference. some tracks really benefit to having a bike though, like Toad Turnpike.

That is me. I make one mistake and never see anyone again. The only time I have ever seen others cross the finish line is when I make zero mistakes.
I will have to practice with faster ones since they take corners differently.

Allow me to clarify for those who don't understand the reference.

The game duplicates one out of every 60 frames. So while the game is still technically displaying 60 frames per second, it is only rendering 59 and duplicating one of them. This causes an obvious stutter, especially noticeable while going around curves. It manifests as a stutter once per second. After playing for many hours, it is rather annoying.

If the game were simply displaying 59FPS, then I would applaud the above snarky remark as accurate, and would have no complaint as there would be no stutter. Why the game is duplicating frames instead of just dropping one is a mystery. I hope it gets fixed.

I was always a die hard Toad fan, I use him in all Mario Karts. In MK7 I had no problem racing online and getting top finishes all the time. When I went to 8, I had no issues in the Grand Prix, but as soon as I started racing online I realized you really need more speed. I then switched to Bowser and it has helped me a lot, and being able to bump people out of the way is a plus too. I honestly do not feel that the handling is hindered at all, I can pull off the same drifts as with Toad.

I haven't played online yet (waiting to finish offline first) but I've noticed the same thing with Bowser. I wanted to switch to some one with more speed, and being able to bump people is great. Also, the fear of getting bumped or crashing into a heavier player is gone.

I don't know why Donut Plains is giving me such a hard time. I think I need to experiment more with the characters... or maybe I'm just too tired.... or maybe people were just throwing too much crap at me :lol:

At 150cc Donut Plains was giving me an incredibly difficult time as well. Even if I took the turns perfectly, I would still end up finishing in the middle of the pack. It just took time and a little luck to get first in it. If it is understanding the course and learning when to drift and the like, I suggest just playing time trial against the ghosts and watching them, you really can get a good feel for when to drift and what shortcuts you can take.
