I prefer playing PS1 games on the PS3 cause of the wireless Dual Shock 3 plus the unlimited virtual memory card :D

Those are pretty great, and PS1 games look a lot better on an HDTV coming through the PS3's HDMI than they would if you were using an actual PS1 with composite cables.

That being said, PS1 games look best coming through a PS1 or 2 to a CRT TV using S-video cables.

Well, I was referring to official means. I'm a bit too stingy to pay for a modding service that costs more than the console itself did.

???

There's no modding required to use either of those. With RGB, at most you'll have to hunt down a monitor or scaler that accepts the signal. With component, it's the same as anything, just go buy a cable.

You know this discussion actually motivated me to get one of those converters to try and convert my PS1 and PS2 saves to the PS3 just as a nice way to back them up, especially since those old PS1 and PS2 memory cards of mine are getting pretty old and god knows how many times they've been rewritten. Can't be too careful.

I don't mind Sony selling the PSX games on PSN as long as I can get to play the game. I know this does not sound right in a "retro" forum, but I am after convenience more than playing on original hardware.

Why not just emulate then?

I do not have a way to emulate on a TV hence using a ps3 gives me the PSX controller+TV experience. I also do not have a gaming PC and no psx/ps2/ps3 controller ... planning to get a ps3 once prices drop to meet a 7 year old technology standards

Convenience really. Sony's emulator is top notch, you have all your games in one machine you can move around easily and the Dual Shock 3 is an amazing controller compared to all PC gamepads (I know I can use my Dual Shock 3 on the PC, but motionjoy is freaking annoying)
