Right now I've got all four elements and a healing skill on my magic MC, so I plan to buff up the demon negotiation line. I figure I'll want to unlock the sixth skill slot once my demons start learning Megido, and then unlock the last two later game when I'm looking for some specific utility.

Nice! I don't even remember what I have. Just whatever I felt was best, I suppose. For regular encounters I've just been able to auto battle lately. Done grinding for the moment since I just reached my lvl32 goal.

You were definitely smart to go magic. I feel that is generally the best way to go in SMT. But I wanted to go physical anyway so I am mainly a gun specialist. My crit rate is getting pretty good now that I am at 65 dex, 65 agility, and 65 luck. :) I could be pouring a lot more into dex, but I am focusing on extra turns for myself and less turns due to missed attacks for enemies.

Well, your focus goes back and forth depending on the game. Nocturne you're best off going physical, since physical damage scales incredibly well in that game, you can get pierce, and you have Freikugel if they reflect phys. Not to mention going a physical MC is the only way to really do any damage to the true last boss.

The Devil Survivor games you want one physical specialist, since there's just enough really good multihit phys stuff to make one character worthwhile, but then magic on the others for the multihit magic skills. So whether your MC goes phys or magic depends on whether you like one of the phys leaning party members or not; if you don't then take up phys yourself, otherwise go magic.

Strange Journey your main character was really restricted in what he could do, so your stats mattered more based on what path you took (and therefore what guns you got access to).

I suppose you're right. I do feel like magic has been key with boss battles in this game so far. Well, at least the first two or three. Since then it has gotten easier. But maybe that's just me learning this iteration better or being over leveled.

My physical focus has been mostly a non-factor for bosses so far. My luck isn't high enough to score a crit almost every time compared to magic hitting the weakness of a boss. But I am sure there will be plenty of times where I am rewarded for my build. And my crit rate is only going to go up as I continue to up my luck. Certainly been able to cruise through regular battles.

Gonna spoiler this just in case, although I think it's pretty innocuous. Around level 14 to give you an idea about the spoiler below.
I'm stuck on the minotaur boss, I'm level 14 and have been hammering him with his weakness, Bufu, but he keeps destroying me when I get to his 4th wave. Hits you with something called Ona-something, any ideas here?

For the storyline bosses, if you give the correct response to their questions you can buff yourself/weaken them. One of his questions if answered correctly will severely lower his accuracy.

Yea. I think it was the 2nd question.
Have you been using bufu yourself and with all your demons?
Even using that method that was still probably the toughest boss fight for me so far. Took me maybe 3 or 4 tries. From there the game has definitely gotten easier. But I expect it to get tougher eventually.

Yeah I am answering the questions correctly, big improvement, it's just surviving that Ona attack that's hurting me. I am using the weakening spell with myself and one demon, I guess maybe I should fuse another with the appropriate spell.

Definitely. I had it with EVERYONE. Took him out in 3-5 turns, I think. Can't remember exactly since that was a while ago. :D

I definitely had more trouble with him than with the next boss. I ended up in a cycle where I'd hit weakness with my MC, then summon a demon to give him two targets. Then on his turn he'd kill that demon, leaving me with just my MC again, but he wouldn't be able to kill me. Rinse and repeat.
