We have a good thread going here. Let's not derail it. Or if there's nothing else to say, let's let it fade.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

If you throw out half of polygamy of course you run into issues like you described. If polygamy (and group marriages in general) are allowed then you'd have some that are male heavy, some that are female heavy, and some that are balanced. As I understand it (and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) very few societies have had both polygyny and polyandry. It's usually been one or the other, and that does lead to problems as you mentioned.

Dedalus, what you are talking about isn't polygamy. Polygamy means marriage to more than one partner, that partner not having a defined sex. As your link says, what you are refering to is polyginy, having several wives.

Obviously banning women from doing what men do or viceversa is sexist and silly so I doubt anyone here supports it.

How often have you seen polyandry, anyway? I have only ever heard of polygyny being practiced, but never the other way around. I mean, I'm sure it exists, but what is the ratio of one to the other?

Hard to say, especially when you consider that polyandry frequently has not been an option while polygyny has been.

I'm not gonna read all 16 pages.. but I always go with the "I don't care if people are gay as long as they respect the fact that I'm not" ...and as the years go by the Bible becomes less and less of a source of anything worth paying attention to, so I have trouble accepting that it somehow dictates right and wrong and propels a sense of judgement... that's more of a problem than gay could ever be. That being said, extremist christians/catholics/etc should back the hell off and let people love who ever they want to love.

I give this message the 'elmagicochrisg seal of approval'... lol

As far as the Bible goes, there's some good stuff in there.

But you should more see it as a guideline.
A guideline is a statement by which to determine a course of action. A guideline aims to streamline particular processes according to a set routine or sound practice. By definition, following a guideline is never mandatory. Guidelines are not binding and are not enforced.

I disagree. The humility, kindness, and self-control I have learned from the Bible have been very useful.

...so i'll just make a silly comment that has nothing to do with the previous 160+ posts.

Oh, but I will of course assume there were some Christians who posted, so i'll make some blanket statements to be sure to insult them.
Fixed, and thanks for your contribution to a nice thread.
