Looking at it. I don't think there is much. They both accomplish the same thing. Personally, I trust geohot more (I know that's a bit silly since they're both strangers on the internet) but geohot has a bigger rep and has delivered time and time again the iPhone scene (something else I take a big interest in).

Personally I don't care either way for backup loaders. Great if they're there, they're massively convenient for me where space is a premium. I can back up my games and then put them in storage. I can live without them though. It's the emulation I want back more than anything.

I definitely am looking forward to emulation - mainly MAME, and any others are fine too but the Wii is just tippy tappy. :)
I would also want a back-up loader because I'm sure the BR drive would give out sooner than anything else in the system.

I've already had to replace the laser assembly in my ps3's BR drive

So, why has there only been one piece of homebrew signed with the master key so far? You would think that devs would be rushing to port their homebrew over.

That's awesome! I think I'm gonna wait a little while before I do anything though. Wait to see how things pan out. But I have to admit, I'm definitely anxious to start using my PS3 the way I use my oXbox for emulators!

I'm installing the CFW right now. All I have to do is update to 3.55 OFW, then update to 3.55 CFW, right? Unfortunately, backups aren't working right now, as expected, but it's only a matter of time.

Holy crap, I spend a day having a curry then playing poker whilst drinking some exceptional craft ales from the UK/Denmark/USA etc and come back to the 3.55 package signing tools. This is such a good day.

Well we now have Lv2 peek/poke syscalls so backup loaders are now possible. The loaders will need some slight modification to work with the patched lv2. Basically works by patching LV2 in an OFW update, installing that then installing geohots 3.55 straight over the top.

We now have a method of booting games without the need of a backup manager as well. You basically unpack the ELF from the SELF, hexedit the elf to change dev_bdvd to dev_hdd0 then sign the elf, package it as a PSN title and copy it to your HDD. It will run from your game menu as a PSN title, no backup manager needed. Personally I prefer this method, I'm going to do this to some of my games later. This should work with Geohot's non-patched lv2 3.55 as well since the syscall isn't being intercepted and redirected.

Do any of the backup loaders have ripping capabilities?
