Castle in the Darkness and Valdis Story are definitely good choices. I've got the others, but haven't put enough time in.

I'd also recommend Rex Rocket, Elliot Quest, and anything else I listed in the AM2R thread. :)

The Retronauts podcast this week is on the great Wonder Boy/Adventure Island schism, as they call it, and they also created an image that might make you understand the relationship between the two series a little better (or confuse you even more, I dunno)

Awesome, my Steam wishlist is growing haha. I decided recently I'm just going to stick to PC for "indie" or small games like this, easier to confine all that to one platform. And take advantage of Steam sales.

Aquaria I have and played a tiny bit of... didn't really grab me. I wonder if I'd like Song of the Deep? I love the Ecco the Dolphin series and would love for some 2D game to capture that underwater atmosphere and dread, but nothing comes to mind. But I can definitely say these games that have real sprite work appeal to me more. Shovel Knight was a homerun for me so I think that's my blueprint for success with indie games and me. lol

I saw you guys talking about Momodora in the AM2R thread and that one definitely looks awesome.

Xeodrifter seemed cool, played the demo of that one awhile back.

And wasn't the new Strider kind of Metroidvania?

I'm most excited for Axiom Verge but I'll wait for a discount on that one.

Ghost 1.0 was the game I thought you'd find the most interesting.

A lot of people swear by Iji:

The prices for Pokemon games are really getting out of control now. I guess it is because of Pokemon Go?

Yeah, they've risen super sharpish lately. I think this is just going to be an odd peak though, I can see them going down again once the Pokémon Go hype dials back a bit. In fact, you might even see the price drop as a lot of the people who bought the games might sell them again.

Thyen again, Pokémon Sun and Moon are out soon too, so the price might take a while to go back down.

I'm not really in love with the art style for this, but I could not be happier that it's in production. I'm sure it will deliver, for me, on gameplay, and feel, at least.
