The Intouchables
Based on a true story about a caretaker and quadriplegic. Takes a positive approach on living life to the fullest. This is a great study of when two people from completely different worlds come together. What really impressed me was the caretaker had no sympathy for the handicap; treated the wheelchair bound man as a person.

Anyone who does not see a movie because it is in a different language is missing out on some truly great films. The Kurosawa series, Das Boot, Amelie, so many great movies.

Speaking of which, my wife and I recently watched:

Nobody Else But You (2011). It is an excellent French murder mystery. Wonderfully acted, scored, and shot, the film kept my wife and I guessing until the very end, and we enjoyed it immensely. (I do not want to give away too much of the plot since the less you know about the film, the more you will enjoy it.) I highly recommend it, and it is currently available for streaming on Netflix.

.....

We also watched both The Dark Knight Rises (not as good as the Dark Knight, but better than Batman Begins) and Pacific Rim (not as good as Hellboy II, but still pretty awesome) this weekend. Both were strong films, but they have been written about extensively on these forums, however, and I suspect anyone who reads this is well-aware of them.

I feel like it really should have been two movies; the pacing would have been much improved.
I watched this last weekend. I gotta give the movie a thumbs down based on me comparing it to the book.

I liked the sets, adult casting decisions and their acting was decent, but the kids were too old and most of the child character portrayals seemed too damn cheerful.

My friend, who hasn't read the book, said that because
the final Command School "simulations" looked so real, she didn't pick up on that it was suppose to be a training exercise. The twist climax that it was real and that thousands of human, billions of aliens just died didn't register with her. I think they should have made it seem like more of a computer-flight-sim.
To be fair though, she isn't the most attentive movie viewer.
I was also shocked at how much of the Battle School BATTLES they cut out. Those were fun in the book.

I agree that it should have been either twice as long or two movies. Maybe even three, two-hour movies if the showed what happens on Earth with Valentine, Peter and nations.

The movie medium can't do a book justice, sigh.

Unless it's Fight Club, in which case the movie is certainly better than the book.

And JAWS

And Disney's ALICE IN WONDERLAND

And THE WIZARD OF OZ

I could go on, but I won't.

Of course that's a rare case and the book is pretty good and the movie is awesome.

That part is really hard to pull off because very few people would buy the idea of a couple of bloggers eventually becoming leaders of the world based on the strength of their blogs.

I'm hearing good things about THE PEANUTS movie that is scheduled for November 2015, which is good as I'm a bit worried that it's in the hands of Blue Sky Productions.

This movie fascinates me as I'm not sure how familiar today's kids are with the Peanuts, and how the studio will stretch this out into a full length motion picture. Looking forward to the teaser.
