What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Had some free time last night and watched Big Fish and Field of Dreams. Still two of my favorite films.

Excellent choices.SirGawain wrote:Had some free time last night and watched Big Fish and Field of Dreams. Still two of my favorite films.
My last films were Lego Movie, Pleasantville, and Mean Girls.
Lego movie was simply amazing. Jokes inside jokes, catchy music, and a voice cast that was perfection. Then they hit the big exposition part and wow. Just an amazing film all around.
Pleasantville is one of my favorite concepts for a film that hits on so many levels. My wife had never seen it, and a $2 dvd at Piggly Wiggly is hard to say no to. If you have not seen it, it is about a brother (Tobey Maguire) and sister (Reese Witherspoon) who are fighting over the remote and get sucked into an Black and White Andy Griffith like TV show called Pleasantville. The brother knows the show well but the sister is your typical 90s girl who wants to watch the MTV. But the movie is much more than two 90s modern kids in a 1950s TV show, it goes into a story about corrupting of a world, segregation, political oppression, and the transition from repression to enlightenment. While it is not the best film it is one I think everyone should watch. Granted I say that about most films with William H Macy in them. It should be noted that the Writer/Director also made Dave, Big, Seabiscuit, The Tale of Despereaux, and Hunger Games 1.
Mean Girls is totally fetch.

Man, I haven't thought of Pleasantville in a while, but I'll agree with your assessment: it's a really good movie that's much deeper than the initial concept might make you think.

I thought this movie was awful, and it is definitely the Studio Ghibli's worst work. That said, it was beautifully animated.REPO Man wrote:
Good but it's pretty slow, but thankfully the visuals are... typical Ghibli.
.....
My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by:

The Red House (1947). It is a fantastic, public domain(!), gothic thriller starring the inimitable Edward G. Robinson. The film was well-acted, well-scripted, well-shot, and fantastically scored, and it does not hurt that one of the female leads is incredibly sexy:

Any thoughts on 'the Last of Us' movie announcement?
Every hot game franchise is "supposed" to be getting real movie deal these days, but it rarely happens in actuality. I generally don’t pay attention to announcements like this... But I can easily see this game being converted to a movie more effortlessly than most. Though Uncharted was supposed to be a movie 8 times over by this point.
Hell even the TRAILER for Dead Island was optioned for a movie...
And yet somehow Need for Speed actually gets made...
The world we live in.
