That picture is perfect.

There's something so funny about a bad gift. My wife's sister is a master of bad gifts. She always strikes that perfect balance between being something you would never want in a million years, but is still recognizably too nice to just throw out. And they are never so bad they are funny in an ironic way, they are just funny because they are so precisely the kind of gift that you can't throw out, but you don't want to have.

Speaking of moms and bad gifts... When I was young I asked my mom for Yoshi's Cookie - ya know, the video game.
She thought I literally wanted a type of cookie. I guess she went to a couple of grocery stores and asked if they had "Yoshi's cookies."

You have no idea how much I love you right now.indecks wrote:My mom is great. I adore that crazy old lady. But she's a bit... detached. She knows I like Star Wars, and she knows I love video games, and she thinks I like hats. So why would I not be absolutely head over heals about this type of ball cap?
Wow. Thanks mom. My wife tried to throw me under the bus and said "hey! why dont you wear it to lunch!" right after I opened the bag containing this monstrosity. I didn't wear it. I almost wore it to a show I had though, but I chickened out.
Bad Mom gifts are the absolute best. For every time you think "Why? Why? Why in the world would my own Mother think I would ever, ever, want this?", there is a Mom at a store who is thinking about you and is missing you so much that she'll purchase any crap she thinks you may like.
And the way you put it is the exact thought process of a Mom:
"He likes video games. He likes Star Wars. He MUST love this!"
Awful hat, awesome Mom.

That's a hat that really says "I am Dragon Quest's monkey bitch".
