You get a higher resolution over the SVideo connection on the TV. The VGA connection is 640x480.

@ CD CAGES - That monitor looks like a CRT, try House Of The Dead with a Light Gun! Yes it will work, shoot the Zombies in VGA. :D

I was at halfprice books yesterday, and for those who don't know it is a nice small chain of stores that mainly sell books hence the name, but they also have a small section of games and comics. So I saw Virtua Tennis, Crazy Taxi and Death Crimson OX and even though I have the first 2 games [I mean what DC game collection is complete without VT and CT, am I right?] but DCOX I only have the disc and they were all in mint condition for $13 and change, so I grabbed them and hopefully get around to testing them out soon. But either way you can't beat the price.
It's time to kick a$$ and chew bubble gum...and I'm all out of gum.

How much did it cost you? I don't have a place for another CRT but I can use a monitor like that. My LED tv has no VGA or s-video input either.

Yes. I'm well aware. Been using VGA on my dreamcast way before it was common. Since 2003 perhaps. I own just about every VGA DC accessory ever made. I had yet to use the systems VGA signal on an actual High end CRT monitor like this one pictured.
Yes. I know. It works very well with light gun games, but thanks for heads up.

Very cheap! $35 and in amazing shape. Found it via local Craigslist ad. Prior to this, a few months back I found a freebie Craigslist ad for a LaCie Eltron Blue 22 CRT monitor which is essntially a rebatch of the Mitsubishi Diamond Pro. I had no room for another CRT so simply donated the free LaCie monitor to my local gaming center where I actually make use of it during my classic fighting gatherings every two weeks.
In any case, the picture quality on the LaCie left an impression on me so I began hunting down for the Diamond Pro for personal use. DC games running on these monitors look equal to a Sega Naomi game running on 31Khz Hi Res arcade monitor. Pixel perfect and rich colors.

Verdict is in on Bleemcast: Metal Gear Solid, CD AGES. It's hardly the definitive version, but I think you'd come to expect that. I'll give you a few points why I think so.

- Resolution isn't all that impressive, though it does have VGA output. You can definitely see some jaggedness and flickering as the textures bump around.
- Sound has a bit of a tinny feel to it. Also quite dampened and suppressed compared to playing it on a PlayStation.
- Saving seemed simple enough, you format the memory card. Got a failure screen (which I heard happened to other players in experiences past), and it took 5 or 6 times calling Mei Ling back on the Codec to finally get a save to stick.

Pros
- Rumble feature, not bad at all.
- Decent control scheme
- Controls well even though it lacks some of the buttons.

For all those reasons, it's a neat little collector's piece but if I wanted to sit down and play the best version, I'd either fire up Twin Snakes or just play it off of my old PlayStation.

Hope that helps!

Weird, I never had that saving issue. Other wise, I agree. Especially about Twin Snakes. I thought I was probably just about the only person who would rather play Twin Snakes over the original.

Thanks for the heads up Blu. I may in fact get one at some point considering I have the other 2 and enjoy Tekken 3 on DC. It looks and plays fairly well on DC.

Got me a few Dreamcast goods over the weekend.
- III 3rd Strike (complete)
- Shenmue (import/sealed)
- Death Crimson 2 (sealed)
- Dreamcast console (seriously need to stop buying these things -.-)

Picked up a copy of the big box Macross M3 for $10 at a local store because it was an import DC game for $10 at a local game store. (Seriously, 2000 people live in that town, I don't know where they found it)

The game isn't very good -- but then again, I don't know anything about Robotech. Maybe it would be awesome to someone who was invested in the story.

The box however is super cool. I can't put it down. So that's my Dreamcast gaming lately - The Macross M3 box.

Stuck on clearing Take On Me (Hard) with an A rank on Samba De Amigo. I think i'll have everything unlocked after I do that.

And speaking of - does anyone have a memory card with the Samba DLC on it? Or a BBA where they can download them? Hoping I can get someone to mail me a VMU with the tracks on there so I can copy them and send it back (or just buy the VMU if it's Yellow, Red or 4x).
