I could see why someone would be into her. I honestly have the feeling that she's covered in tattoos and will end up getting fired from progressive for doing a suicide girls shoot.

Well I put more miles on than that, I was just using it as an easy number to show that Ziggy wouldn't manage only 1200 miles over work trips over a year either. I do put way less miles on my car than most people though, especially for Houston and Texas in general. Admittedly I do go out less than some people and I tend to plan trips so I run a bunch of errands all at once as opposed to leaving 4 or 5 separate times to do stuff. I work from home too, so I don't have a daily work commute which helps a lot.

Random Thoughts:

Iggy Azalea's I'm So Fancy is a fun song that everyone will hate in a few weeks.

DJ Snake and Little John's Turn Down for What music video is basically the best.

I heard that the company stopped using her due to the massive amount that Rule 34 pics that appeared on the internet.

Probably an urban legend or some other bullshit.

Ziggy587 wrote: Bleh, I might not be able to lease anyway, now that I'm thinking about it. My old job was about 6 miles each way, my new job is 35. So just doing that math, that's 70 round trip, 5 days a week, times 4 weeks, times 12 months, is about 16,800 miles a year. Safe bet at least 18,000 miles a year, since I go other places than work.
I doubt you're going to only out 1200 miles a year outside of going to work. I drive a lot less than most people since I work from home and go to the grocery store that is literally across the street from my apartments. I still put over 300 miles a month on my car and that would be 3600+ miles a year. That would be in the vicinity of 24 detour miles a week you'd allowed yourself.
It wasn't even a serious consideration. There's just no way I'm going to lease after realizing that I'd never keep it under 12k/year. I know that some times you can get a lease with a little higher millage allowance, but not only does it cost more, but the highest I think any one would ever offer is still only something like 14-16k. There's just no way I could lease, even if I only did 1200 miles outside of work (which really isn't out of the ballpark).

For the past 5 years, I've been averaging around 5-6k per year. From 6k to 18k+ is a shock.

I was thinking some more, and if I'm doing 16,800 per year just in work commute, if I had a 5 year car loan (typical) I would have 84k just in work commute at the end of the 5 years. I'd definitely have at least 100k on it. So that kinda sucks. Of course, my current car is at 80k right now. Assuming I would still have it in 5 years, that car would be at 180k and about 20 years old. It's a Toyota, and I take care of it, so it's more than likely that car would make it that long. Having a car with no car payment is great, but driving a 15 year old car, it's not IF you have to do a repair it's WHEN you'll have to. At any time, some thing can just go out on it. It would suck to have something crucial go out while doing 80 (keeping up with traffic) on the LIE.

So, all things considered, I think I'm just gonna try and finance a new car. Lease is out of the question. And since my insurance will cost more to finance a 4 or 5 year old car than it would a brand new car, I'll just go new. Insurance was like a $60/mo difference, so I'll just add $60/mo to what I was hoping my car payment would be and be able to afford something new. Getting a car with 0 miles on it will be awesome, I've never owned a brand new car before. It'll suck that I'll have about 100k on it already at the end of 5 years, but at least something like 84% of that will be highway millage.

LOL, was just thinking out loud here a bit... sorry if it turned into a wall of text.

Anyways, I'm thinking about getting a Subaru Impreza...

Image

It's the type of car I like, and now that I'm gonna be doing 70 miles round trip for work, the AWD will give me a little peace of mind in the winter. For an AWD sedan, this seems to be the best bang for the buck. Everything else is more expensive. And even still, Subaru's symmetrical AWD is supposedly better than other manufacture's AWD.

My car that I have now is rated to get 20/28 MPG. Of course, that's when it was new. The car is 15 years old and I know I'm not getting that. I haven't done any calculations but I'm definitely not getting 28 highway. The Impreza gets 27/36 MPG. That'll be an insane increase for me. So I'm also taking into consideration that I'll be paying a lot less for gas per month. I haven't done any real calculations, but I'd probably save something like $50-100 a month in gas.

edit: I think I'm gonna fill up my tank today and finally do a real MPG test.

edit: Shit. I just did the math. Even if my car was getting 28MPG, I'm spending $192/mo in gas for it! And that just in work commute! And I know I'm not getting 28MPG. At 36MPG, that goes down to $150/mo. So I'll definitely be saving at least $50/mo in gas.
