What are some of the funniest finds you guys have collected?

I never knew Ninja Gaiden Trilogy was even a thing, but saw it in Vintage Stock one day for a few dollars and decided what the heck, grabbed it.

Looks like it's going for $800 new on Amazon and $150 or something for used. Huh...

Easy one for the SNES.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors (boxed!) in a clearance bin at the front of a Kay Bee Toys in the mall. Just after Christmas 1995. $13.

Price 20 years later -- about $30 loose, $50-$100 CIB.

Depending on your sense of humor, how about Earthbound for $2? Got it 3 1/2 years ago now when it was peaking pretty badly. One shot person at the flea I never saw before, mexican who didn't know much of any english, older lady. Saw the cart (figured it was that or BOB) from a good distance out and it was sitting on a pile of dirty clothes and mixed with another pile of sealed EA Madden PC games mostly (couple FIFAs and Mass Effect.)

Asked her how much, she had this blank stare then put up the old peace fingers (2.) I couldn't get the wallet out fast enough while keeping composed. :D

There's also the time I found a SNES lot on craigslist that same year out there and it has like 2 dozen games and a system, only wanted $120 for it. Long story short I called the guy back 3x, 2nd was a hang up and first he sounded bugged. I told him honestly MMX3 in the front of his image is worth most of what he's asking, he'd get hit with a lot of reseller trash probably wanting to steal it. Ended up I had to call back to see if I had it, and his email got all blown up and his voicemail locked to the max with anyone who did speak to him told him it was a worthless game and they'd pay $10. Furious he was, happy I was honest. I even offered more, he wouldn't take it as that's all his brother wanted, plus because I wasn't (his words) an asshole lying reseller he would even drive it to me (25~min drive) and didn't care if I did sell it or some of the others off too. The lot had a few nice gems in it like King of Dragons, DKC3, etc with some basic filler.

There was a little used media place that I would hit up in grad school in 2008. They knee the big names, but the less famous stuff, they had no idea of. I managed to snag Super Turrican 2 for less than $10.

A funny one for me:

Went to buy a 360 off Craigslist, dude said he had an SNES he would throw in. $125 total, figured why not. When I got there, dude said he thought he had some SNES games too, and ended up finding a box with:

Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2
Gradius III
Final Fantasy II
Final Fantasy III
Super Mario World/All Stars
Super Mario RPG

And he just threw it all in for the initial asking price of $125. He even threw in a 360 game as well, a Tony Hawk or something. Probably the 2nd best unexpected deal I've found.

Wow one lousy 360 turns into a SNES goldmine and for no extra charge. If we all still had that kind of luck, especially in this year or the last. Have fun with those.

My best random find happened in a Gamestop:

I went in to do my usual browsing of used Wii games and some guy came in with a box full of games. The box had some PSone stuff that obviously Gamestop wouldn't take as trade-in. The employee offered to "donate" the games or he could take them back. Now, I am not one to usually drop-in on a transaction/conversation but I figured I might as well ask to look at the contents.

I took about a 5 second look and offered $20 because it was the only cash I had in my wallet (and I almost never carry cash). Long story short, he accepted and I walked away with all of this for $20:

I've had some damn good finds or lucked out over the years but this was just the most random event for me.

I miss the days of poorly listed ebay auctions. I remember 10 years ago buying "Super Ghosts 'n Goblins" complete in the box, mint condition for less than $10, I was the only bid

I only started collecting for the SNES because my cousin bought a house that was abandoned by a hoarder who left all of their stuff behind. She said there was a drawer full of Nintendo games I could have.

Expecting some common NES games I ended up pleasantly surprised to find they were actually SNES games, all of the usual Mario games and some stand-outs like Mega Man X2, Sunset Riders, Donkey Kong Country 2, Turtles in Time and Super Turrican 2.

I'd probably never top that kind of luck, even if I were still actively game hunting.

I remember searching dozens of misspellings when I'd look for games. My other tactic was combing through cheap lots of mostly sports games because occasionally people would throw in an overlooked expensive game and the whole lot would be cheaper than that game by itself.
